Is the Golden Egg Dead?

Has AdultFriendFinder killed the Golden Egg?

In case you don't know, in blogging terms laying a golden egg is to read back into the depths of someones blog and leave a comment there for them to find at a later date. I used to call it back-blogging, but that wonderful one-time great blogger Jakedrake8 always called it laying a golden egg and I think we should keep the expression alive in his honour. Until recently, if you did lay an egg down in the basement of someones blog it showed up on the list of "most recent comments by." And of course it still does, but your own username no longer gets a mention on that list, so that you can't tell when a new comment has been posted on an old blog. At least not unless you know the names of all the other most recent commenters and can remember them, or unless it is such an old blog that you notice when it suddenly reappears on that list. Previously, if you had answered each comment, then your own name appeared as the last commenter. So if someone elses name appeared there, I knew I had a new comment, and that would work even if someone was leaving a comment way back on one of my earliest posts. Are you with me so far?

If I meet a new blogger and I like what I read, I like to try to read back and see what they were writing some time ago. I find it very flattering when someone does that to me. Only now, if I comment, they may never see it, and if they leave me a comment on an old blog I won't know it is there. I mention all this because I had it in my mind to go and visit a blogger who I am attracted to and leave some golden eggs, and now I am worried she will not notice that they are there. Oh well......I will enjoy my reading anyway. But it is a shame.

Just when blogging needs everything it has to keep me interested.

 As you know, I have left my own type of golden egg upon your pages, in the past.
Unfortunately you have not produced a blog recently, for me to leave such an item.
Still waiting by the way!
As a fellow blogger, I am informed of any new blog replies, that I may have gotten.
Even if it is to one of my earliest ones.
I do try & do my best to answer every message, left for me.
Even if it is to physically go back & check myself.
Just to make sure, that AdultFriendFinder itself, hasn't missed one.

I have just worked out that I should be able to follow them if I kepp a check on the "date posted" column in the most recent comments side bar. Maybe it is just that at the moment no one leaves me any. Maybe I need to write more interesting current stuff to get anyone interested in looking back......

 That's not entirely accurate. If someone does leave a comment on an old post, it will still bring it to the top of your list.

I did like that it use to show if I was the last to comment and hopefully that will get fixed. I had to explain that issue to one of the staff members to get them to understand what was changed about that list. I just don't think they will put that bug as a priority.

Hello! So good to see you visiting here. I had worked out that as long as I check the dates I will still see any new comments even if they are way back, but thanks for pointing it out - I might easily have been still unaware. And yes, I used to like to be able to see if I was the last to comment, and I don't expect that will be a priority fix, but it isn't that big an issue is it really, I just didn't have anything else to blog about, lol.

 I gotta tell you Dreamer - that new feature has annoyed the crap out of me! I keep having to go back to see if I answered all of the most recent comments, and I am finding that I haven't! I liked having my username show up as the last comment - it was my own little set of checks and balances...

I have't been around in ages...just some busy crap - how you been?

Had a bad few days and thought about resigning from something I am in charge of and love but which I almost feel I can't keep doing any more, but maybe it will pass. It feels like other people pissing me off, but really I think it's just something in me which I have to deal with. Pretty good mostly otherwise, even had some good work! (You did ask, lol! ) You?

I have got used to checking the dates on the comments now - that helps if you are only blogging every few days but of course if you were on line and the comments were coming thick and fast it wouldn't. I think we will cope though, don't you? If I leave you an egg and you don't reply I will come and pester you in your private post, lol.
