Talking to a Hottie
Talking to a Hottie Dreamer: Hey, you know this checkout girl's name tag says she's called "Hottie." Me: You're crazy, that can't be her real name. Him: Well then she must have made it up. That's sexy. It's her way of telling us she's hoping to meet a sexy man who will ask if he can come back and take her out later when her work shift finishes. Me (looking closer) : Dreamer you're an idiot - it says "Hollie." Him: Ahh, that makes more sense. That's a shame. She is one though. We leave together, fortunately without having asked the checkout girl for a date. He would you know, if I let him. At least I think he would, but maybe he plays up a bit, relying on me to be the sensible one and keep him out of trouble - even he probably knows he couldn't get away with that kind of behaviour. You have to love him though, he lives in his own little fantasy world and it helps to make the day to day tasks more interesting. |

You know, until I started reading your blog I didn't often wonder what men were thinking when I was around. I've often intuitively picked up on some of their thoughts, but unless I get flashes from people, I've never really bothered to engage my curiosity. Yet more and more, I find myself trying to look at myself through the eyes of my taxi driver, the shelf-stacker in Sainsburys with the hair and the great smile, the guy who came to fix my electrics yesterday. I wonder what, if anything, they are wondering about me. Whether they find me attractive. My head is full of erotic what-ifs; pictures that come to me as momentary flashes and leave me smiling. I feel more connected to humans now that my curiosity has piqued, and I thank you for that. Do not seek an external refuge, but be a light unto yourself. "Be the change you want to see." "My head is full of erotic what-ifs." Oh I know the feeling. I can't believe I am responsible for that, but your thanks are welcome anyway! Although I should point out that Dreamer's inner thoughts, as published on this page, may be a-typical, and in any case, though never made up, may be exaggerated a little for effect. But I think it is great to be more connected, whether it is to closer friends, or just the people we pass by daily. Often the most exciting of those are the people we see regularly, but who have no other connection to us than that they serve us coffee, or go to the same gym or whatever. For me, that is always where the wondering starts. Like the wondering what ifs about the people who read the same blog pages.
