Jerry Lee Lewis - "Last man standing"
Jerry Lee Lewis - "Last man standing" Just a short music lover's post for those who are interested. Among the many types of music I love, one style which always makes me smile is authentic fifties rock 'n' roll. And Jerry Lee is one of the all time greats. One of my nephews, ninteen years old, is a fifties fan too, (at first completely uninfluenced by me.) He's a piano player, so naturally I told him he's got to listen to Jerry Lee. So we were on the phone last night and he told me to get "Last Man Standing" the recent album by the great man, dueting with some other all time greats like BB King and Buddy Guy. "OK it's not the best music ever," says my nephew, but there are some good songs, and we kind of owe it to the old boy to buy his record." Amen to that. I mean ok he married his fifteen year old cousin, (or was she thirteen, I can't remember,) and I know that's frowned on in some circles (!) but I simply can't listen to him play without a smile on my face, and this is a sex site, so we can forgive him for falling in love with someone a bit younger than him can't we? I bought the record, slid it into the CD player like a tongue between a teenage lovers lips and bang, out comes Jerry Lee Lewis, playing Led Zepplin's "Rock'n'roll," in true piano boogie fifties style, with Jimmy Page on guitar! I mean it's mad, but it sure is rock'n'roll! I smiled so much I nearly burst out laughing. Out of sun records great recording stable; Carl Perkins , Elvis, Ray Charles and Johnny Cash, the founders of rock'n'roll, Jerry Lee Lewis is the last man standing. Long live the Killer! |
