FREEDOM

Freedom is a word whose meaning stretches out in all directions. It's really almost a singularity of all human endevors, of all our hopes and all our dreams.

No living thing on this earth is truly free. At the end of the canaries cage lurks the final flight into the abyss of something? Or Into nothing?

We humans above all other living things, with the ability to conceptualize the future, and to control many things in our environment, have more freedom to direct our lives than most other living organisms, but we too are often humbled by the power of forces around us.

The tornado's fury, the sheer, unstoppable power of the crashing ocean waves in a gale, the opening of the earth when even the rocks begin to shift in the ground beneath our feet.

Those of us living in the WESTERN culture consider ourselves free. We've been schooled all our lives in the laws, traditions, customs, habits, and social mores we must follow in order to be calm and rational members of our clans. Of our tribes.

As in all other things in this dimension we find ourselves emersed in, there is no real perfection when it comes to absolute freedom, or in the absolute of anything else.

I belive if we can accept THIS concept as our personal mantra, the sun will light our world each morning, and the joy of life will light our character and shine out for other humans and even animals and plants to feel. Accepting life as it is and enjoying the things given us and not looking always into the shadows of what is not, is probably a great secret of living a successful life..
