The hunt is on Deer season began the 11th here in NH, so that means a bunch of drunken people are wandering around the woods with loaded guns. I live in a pretty rural area so this worries me a bit every year. Every year there are stories that just make me shake my head in disgust. I'm not pro hunting or anti hunting really, I just don't like the idea of people wandering around with loaded weapons, drinking while doing so, and ending up not hitting what they're supposed to. I've seen deer wandering around shot, but not killed. Heard the stories of people being shot. Seen a hunter bring a goat to a weight station tagged and dressed. That's right, a GOAT.  Tons of stories like this out there. So I got questions, (you knew I would  ) Are you for or against hunting, and why? Got any strange hunting stories?  |

I've never understood why a bunch of upper class twits who ride around on horseback following a pack of bewildered dogs hunting a fox call this a sport?

I love the natural selection game. Lets see who shoots their buddy first. I used to be against hunting, but then I realized how good venison tasted next to the mashed potatoes. About the only thing that bugs me about it now is the bull shit excuse "We saving them from over population" or the eradication zones set up around here because of the CWD. There are a few urban zones around here that could use a little people depopulation and maybe we should set up some eradication zones to fight the AIDS epidemic. If you like the way venison tastes, that's a legitimate reason to hunt, if you just like to kill things, I can even live with that excuse, but save the we're saving them from themselves bull shit. And that pretty much sums up my opinion on hunting.

My parent's raised goats, but they were for milk and grazing, not eating.  As for the goat in my post, you'd think the fence would have given it away...

I'm all for a walk in the woods no matter the weather, I just don't want to be shot by some idiot while enjoying nature. I'm all for drinking when it's appropriate too, just don't think firearms and alcohol are too great a combo.

It just doesn't taste good to me usually. And I agree about the bullshit tactics to promote hunting. Do it to feed your family, fine, do it to help the population problem??? Please.

Well, everybody know you need an AK47 to bring down a goat. To be honest, I don't mind hunting, but it's not something I do. It's the U.S. gun laws I don't agree with.
