There's no point in cutting off that bit, except that "it's traditional".
| ||
|
I agree with you that it should be the choice as you have stated above.
| ||
|
Well, if I wanted to have politicians making decisions on the whereabouts of my foreskin... I'd wrap it with Oil and Illegal Immigrants. I never knew what it was like to have foreskin.. so, I don't think there's anything to miss.. outside of having a penis that doesn't look like a dog's weiner..
| ||
|
I have no feelings of missing my foreskin.

I had a male friend who was 25 and uncircumcised. He chose to do it as an adult and says it was the worst decision of his life. Sensitivity was greatly reduced and he said the gliding action during intercourse was lost as well...just a perspective from someone who had lived with it both ways....

It was cut off before I knew about it, and that's the way things were back then, you did it !!

Your results probably reflect a North American demographic bias. Your list of possible answers to the question lacks the very obvious "Uncircumcised and very glad that I am not." At age 70, I am glad not have undergone this barbaric procedure at any earlier point in my life. And happy to possess a wonderful foreskin for my partners and I to play with. In the meantime having the sensitive glans covered and protected during the rigours of everyday life is a bonus. Nature was not wrong. Religious tradition is not a justification for anything.

Did you ever think the rate declined not because of concious decisions but because the birth rate of males dropped? The problem with statistics and surveys are they only serve the people quoting them. Also see my other comment related to this poll.

Nice start but this poll still falls through the cracks. The "Educated discussion..." as titled followed by the brief explanation of "government involvement" in such a personal decision of parents is totally lost in the query. The poll is fashioned to draw personal information. Not a persons personal belief regarding government involvement! And, while it all looks anonymous... "its not"! Votes are linked to users profile which are linked further to payments and shared with marketers across the internet who link this information with the IP address from everyones internet service providers. Just like using safeway (grocery store) discount cards and those old machines they used to scan your personal check. The latter had nothing to do with clearing your check but was used by marketers to compile endless amounts fo data on your purchases - linked directly to your name and address. Finally, for anyone that believes the people make better decisions for themselves, they should equally - not support ObamaCare - or they're being hypocritical. The answer that is not in the poll is: "people make better decisions for themselves". Right or wrong by any standard, it is thier decision to make.

As a women, intercourse this is a little bit of difference for me if a man isn't, visually unappealing and I don't' want to put my mouth on it. But that is just me.

I am not circumcised and prefer it that way. Our country doctor when I was born believed it wasn't necessary to circumcise male babies as long as you bathed regularly and had good hygiene. Besides religious reasons I read that during world war one many of the soldiers that were not circumcised had issues because they couldn't bath and be in a clean environment. Except for religious or a medical condition I think it is just an added expense the doctors can charge.

circumcision is not necessary/needed for all, in some guys the thread is so tight they get pain during sex an difficult to shoot cum, here it is essential. In Muslims they do it for all as a religious ritual since polygamy is permitted women need it very rarely. Romantic, sexy-love warm hugs, enjoy sex 24/7 one on one, goup fun, watching porn together with joy

As a mother of a son that didn't have the choice of whether to get him 'done' or not...as long as there is no medical urgency to have it done then let it be. He's clean has not had any problems to date therefore even with religious beliefs I still don't see why it's needed.

There is man if.

I'm uncut and like it the way it is. Most boys will eventually figure out that it is pretty important to keep things clean, not just the foreskin! I don't think there is really any need for circumcision in this day and age, but if parents want to do it for their own child, I don't feel that strongly about it. Personally, if I have a male child I"ll let things stay 'au naturale'. I understand how circumcision can be equated with 'genital mutilation' but I don't think this is really the issue. I think that ideally the child would be able to choose for himself and have a say in the matter. Unfortunately when most parents want to have it done, the child is too young to have a voice. I guess we can assume that it is in no way a positive experience (the actual circumcision) and can assume the child does not/would not want to have it done. Anyway, just my two cents. Just love what you've got either way!

PS - looks like there are many more circumcised men replying than uncircumcised which brings to light a definite bias in the responses.

I am unmarried and I voted others because I feel many ways happy that I am uncircumcised. Reasons are protection, feel pleasured, sensitive, easy during masturbating. In couple of ways I feel disappointed with having my foreskin. 1. Have to clean it everyday, I feel little tough to do it. 2. Hard to pull the foreskin back when penis is erected. May be due to less intercourse experience as i am still unmarried

If I wasn.t circumcised I would have it done. It Looks better.

never done it and never felt the need to.. skin is there for a reason aint it..

Opinions are like... Well you know the saying. So this is just my perspective. It's known that circumcising was encouraged in the past for sanitary reasons. I've worked in health care for a while and have seen a man have to get his penis amputated due to gangrene because he wasn't circumcised and didn't practice proper hygiene. That's just one instance, and not the norm. To each his own, and I think it should definitely be left up to the parents if anyone. I would say the male should have the right to make the decision on his own when he matures because some people view it as savagery to just lop off bits of their children at birth , but the older the individual the longer the healing process and higher risk of infection. Regarding sex though I guess you can't really compare because someone who is circumcised wouldn't know any different and vice versa for those who aren't. It's been theorized though that circumcised men have less sensitivity which can affect their staying power (for a lack of better words). I don't know if that's true, but that's the buzz in the medical community.

"...decision that is left to the parents..." I have to disagree, it's up to the guy who owns the cock. If you are having a bit of your body lopped off it has to be your decision. The "it's traditional" argument can not really be applied to female genital mutilation, can it? Check out my blog and profile!

It's so hard to weigh on this but i do feel like the loss of sensation was huge. I had surgery when I was already 12 years old or so and not when I was born so I remember how much it changed. I was far away from having sex for the first time so it's difficult to say how much I'm missing on....but I assume A LO!

Hi, I am a physician and I would hate NOT to be circumcised! Those who are not are not as clean, and I have never had a problem with sensation, and I do not think I bear any scars from the "trauma" of childhood circumcision!

not really worried about it either way. I believe it exposes the more sensitive skin beneath and makes orgasm quicker for the male, not always a desired outcome
