Serious thought

Today as I was walking from the water taxi to the office there was a fire truck and police car. A homeless person had died and they were dealing with the body.

Got me to thinking. Here I am blogging about sex and planning to fly to Chicago and meet a new girl there. Tomorrow I have an afternoon play time planned and next Monday with another new girl. There is another girl texting me to meet. I have a very nice office, have a very good life. I walk from the water taxi by choice. The doc said at my annual physical last year I needed to lose weight, get more exercise and cut back on carbs. So I decided to take the water taxi and do the 14 block round trip to the office.

This morning it hit me what a different life I live than the poor guy whose body was being picked up off the street. Did he ever have sex? Maybe, but not in a clean hotel room. He spent his day in the square probably, not in a nice office. He walks or takes the bus if he gets a free bus pass. He does not have the choice of driving a new Mercedes. He does not take an annual physical; the only docs he ever saw were the ones in the emergency room.

It also struck me how thin the line is between where he had lived and where I live. I have been dead broke before; not my decisions but just the economy. But a medical emergency or change in the business environment and I could be homeless too.

I do feel very blessed to live the life I live.

You lost me at "Water Taxi". I spent 14 months working HVA security in the port of Mina Jebel Ali in the U.A.E.
Every time one of the passenger boats would enter the port, one of the other coxswains would sure enough get on the marine band and report that the Water Taxi was making an approach.

Every time I wanted to scream into the radio, "Shut the fuck up! We're on the water! You don't have to specify that it's a water taxi!!! It's not like a land taxi is ever going to be driving toward us!"

I live in a part of Seattle that has a passenger ferry to downtown. It is a 12 minute ride one way. Not long. Called a water taxi.
