A few weeks ago, when I was driving to Dallas for a business trip, I rented a larger vehicle and took the LAST of my 32YO son's stuff to him in Oklahoma City. One down - one to go.

I would miss my garden. Cutting the grass - not so much.

I used to enjoy a garden. Unfortunately I don't have a place for one now. Too much shade in the yard and no place to put one. Yet there's still a lot of yard to mow.... lol Why does it work out like that?

I made the move from the suburbs back into the city in 2015. I love it. I think you'll like it too.

If you find that you really miss gardening, there are some community gardens where you can rent a plot. But if it's just the fresh veggies you're after, yes - farmer's market

Having some trepidation is understandable. No doubt it will take some time to get used to your new ‘normal’ but I am sure you will settle in fine. With the good luck you are having, maybe you should buy a lottery ticket 🎫 !

Once you're moved start researching how to do container gardening. You can grow herbs, tomatoes, peppers, and other things.

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

Yeah, I thought about the change of scenery for you too. I love the city, but love seclusion as well.

I'm sure you'll be fine in the city. I've been reading your blog long enough to know that you're very good at adapting to most situations.

Good luck with your move. There comes a time as a parent where you don't stop loving your kids but they must learn to survive on their own. It can sometimes be a dose of tough love. Otherwise, they will always be dependent on you and they need to realize you have your own life to live and that you will not always be around to bail them out.

It's funny... I have a "garden" now. Well, technically it's a fenced off rectangle with a bunch of weeds in it but a few years ago it was a nice garden. The effort tho!!!!! When I think back to my old city container gardens and how easy they were to maintain I think I should have just put containers in rectangle!

Yeah, especially after being "reminded" how much work ownership is, renting can be a real relief.

But then one day you sorely miss having a garden and so you go looking for a home with a decent yard again...

It's a hopeless cycle.

As are kids.

But we do the best we can.

Even an herb as sweet as basil is nothing without its bite.

everything you want is within walking distance or a LYFT ride. food culture, food

You cannot conceive the many without the one.
