 Although you asked for comments from young women, and I am clearly not young or a woman, I will weigh in nonetheless. I could write volumes on this topic but here are a few points.

1. The frog prince fairytale. Too many of us when we are young are brainwashed into having unrealistic expectations of how life works. Find a frog, and turn him into a hot prince. I you don't think that we are brainwashed, just look at the current obsession of women to be thin, (size 6 or smaller), where studies have demonstrated that men like women with some meat on their bones (size 10 on average). I blogged and about, and have come across it in discussion groups. Classic brainwashing by the fashion industry of what beauty looks like.

2. Conquest; this is closely tied to the frog prince fairytale. When I was coming up, I remember having to put in some work to find a hookup when I was single. Whenever I had a GF, suddenly it seem that women were coming out of the woodwork looking for a hookup. I always though it was just bad luck until the day I got married. Having an adult discussion amongst the bridal party, 2 of the 3 brides maids admit they find a taken man (one with a wedding ring) more sexy and desirable than a single man. A whole lot of things suddenly made sense to me after that discussion. It the whole, "he's broken in" thing, coupled with the "I'm special, he will be different with me, and he won't look at another woman" syndrome.

3. Making the same mistake, over and over again. I read an article a long time ago that suggested we (men and women), keep have relationship disasters because of ourselves and not because of our partners. We keep going after the same type of individual that broke our heart the last time, and convince ourselves that this time the person doesn't have the same fatal flaw as the last one. It like getting a bottle of tequila, doing shooter, and expecting that this time, because we are more experience, we will not get drunk and end up puking.

Well my question came upon my conversation with a few young guys. Young intelligent man that felt that woman rather go with a James Dean type than a Harry Potter.
Woman are not just brainwashed by the media about being small. Men say they like big woman but in a club or anywhere else its a rarity that the plumb woman gets the attention. Even those that have married big girls have cheated on them with their skinny g/f or any slim woman never with another plumb or heavy woman.

Yeah married man have been known to be the popular interest of single woman, because they want to stay single and because married ppl are like a challenge to single man/woman. It does something to their ego to proof that can destroy a marriage.
