Finding Some Perspective.........
Finding Some Perspective......... I am feeling sad, lonely and lost. A thought popped into my head -- that I need to find some perspective. Hmmm.....find some. Where do I look for it? Is it already inside of me? Is it in my mind or heart....or both? Will I find it in a book? Perhaps the Bible or a dictionary? Will I find it with friends or family? A fortune cookie? Online? Here, on this site? In prayer or meditation? This post was meant to be serious......and again, not so serious. Any ideas for me? . . , |

Such an interesting question and nice posts. When I would feel sad, lonely, and lost, I found myself asking, "What's wrong with me?" I came to realize the answer was, "Nothing!" It is just a cycle that I go through and I learned to embrace it, because it seemed to pass quickly enough. The positive is, this is my time to feel and it can be a time of creative thinking/doing. Then there is the how can you know happiness if you don't know sadness argument. It is all perspective, isn't it? I learned to live with a philosophy (and these have already been mentioned) of Lovingkindness and Thankfulness. I find it difficult at times to hold on to my sadness, now. To answer the specific question you asked, I would have to answer all the things you mentioned, unless you can be one dimensional and are happy with a single view. You might like Robert Frost's, "My November Guest," for another perspective. It starts, "My Sorrow when she's here with me..."

Got me-but you ever look back on a time in your life when you thought you didn't have a clue and then think you wish you had it as much together now as you did then? Or is that perspective?

We're the sum of everything that's been part of us... what you value informs your happiness...for some it's friends, or family and for others it's a career or success defined otherwise...step back and assess what has made you happy in the past and what makes you happy now...
