What Feeds Your Soul .... ???

I found this article on the internet and got to thinking.....what are the things that feed my soul? So, I thought I would ask the question here.

...this is an excerpt from the articile:

"The soul lives in the moment. Like a Christmas tree, the soul sparkles with light when it is plugged in. So, what are some of the ways to plug into your particular soul on this very busy Planet Earth, where life is not dull and there is so much input of information, demands, and everyday stimulation? Most days are fast and hurried trying to keep abreast, keep track, and keep it together."

" May you be reminded of what turns you on, fills you up, and lights your bulb."

Sometimes after a long hectic day, I like to unwind with some soft tranquil music. Music is very good for the mind, body, and soul.

There used to be an area by a creek I used to go to all the time, there was a bench I sat at and would watch the sunrise/or sunset. It was tranquility, a sense of peace and ease of my mind. I loved it. I would just be deep in thought there. It was beautiful.

take life as it comes, there are things you can fix, an things you cant fix...things you can change, an things you cant change, things you can hope for an get, an things that wont come , dont look for the answers of life, just enjoy what you have , as it seems the answers will always come to you if your patient an look around. As for the christmas tree... hmm not sure i like that comparison , sure the soul the tree may shine to some when lit..but it really shines when in the sunlite growing, as when christmas is over the tree is thrown out for debrie .. is that what you want for your soul??? Seems in todays world that is the way people have grown to be, its easy to make friends , but when its not convienant they just throw them away... now that is the thinking of a old minnesota boy... i grew up south of the cities about 45 miles...

For years, I always thought that the soul was eternal - hard linked to the heart, mind, and spirit. But, a gentleman commented one day - "that boy, he just don't have no soul". Over the next few weeks I watched and observed - and finally asked him, what he had meant. He said, "he's lost his soul, lost his way", and then, he explained; "See, he has a heart it's beating ain't it? He has a mind, he's answering questions and he's talking ain't he? He's got a spirit because his body is still alive and here ain't it?". Then he said, "But, he ain't got no soul, no spark, no drive, no hope, no joy, no happiness, no life in that body - he's just given up on living".

The boy - he was talking about was an Army Staff Sergeant who had lost his leg just below the knee. Not a boy by any means. But, the loss of his leg, had taken the soul, his self worth, right out of his life. Not the full extent of his injuries, but, the only physical one that didn't heal.
The place - Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 1980.
The gentleman - an older orderly on the Ortho Ward.

I asked him, what it would take for him to get his soul back and he said, "I don't really know, I've never seen one who had let his soul go, ever get it back".

Eight months later, when I was discharged from WRAMC, that Staff Sergeant was still there.

So as Peter Pan would say... find your happy thought, your happy place, that is what recharges your soul and gives it flight and, never, ever, lose it! Because life without it... is just existence...not living.

There are many things that feed my soul ~~ one of the most important to me though is "quiet". Being quiet and having a quiet place to just sit and meditate feeds my soul.
