 I came to country music through some musician friends of mine playing with a guy named Pat McLaughlin. Good voice, nice songs, some of them about loss... Well loss is something everyone understands, right?
Nicest guy. Disappeared into wherever. Come to think of it, all my musician friends from L. A. gone, too.
Sigh.

 I am a country girl, and grew up on it and I enjoy singing it as well, some are corny and lame as you put it..but there have been some great instrumentalists of our time. My uncle has written and played for some of the best in the industry, Bobby Bare, Dolly Pardon, Bellamy Brothers, the list goes on and on, and he has his own Band called the Flying Burrito Brothers, he has written some of the greatest songs a few of these artists have sang..
Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

 That's EXACTLY what happens when one gets old!
Your taste in anything, even "corny" country music, can change. Life changes you and you gain new perspectives. Sometimes it makes more sense than it used to. Sometimes it's just the same old annoying, crying in my beer, my dog ran away and my truck died twangy music it always has been.
