strange fruit again
The strange fruit down
think never be regrown
a President of colour elected
think population never be neglected
now the election of
a man who could
by his baneful actions and words
change again the fragile worlds
of so many vulnerable people
in so many tragic ways
might result
in the strange fruit dangling
from the trees again
is this at what he is angling
by his words of hate
his words of ignorance
as he by his words state
there are some of whom
he cares so much less about their fate
whether Puerto Ricans cold
without power or food
or refugees in an even more
perilous wretched state
in conditions he would not know
for is not on any golf hole
and his favourite channels
do not cover human suffering
for if they did perhaps
as a President of ignorance
he might seek to govern for all
and ensure no fresh strange fruit rise
that rotting shall from the poplar trees fall.
