I've been thinking about heading to Mackinaw or Sturgeon tomorrow to see what the conditions are like on Lake Michigan. Now that I'm not seeing the Hippie anymore, I don't go up there... I really miss it.

Those ice balls are weird!! I bet they sound interesting when they're bumping into each other.... The innuendo material is getting deeper by the second.

I saw an article about ice balls just last week. It was telling how they form under the right weather conditions/temperatures.
I know how cold that beach visit must have been. I've been on the shore of Portage Lake about 55 miles south of Anchorage when there were still huge icebergs floating around and the wind coming off the glacier. Doesn't matter if it's May and the sun is shining. It's damned cold.

Hmmmm....I know I left that wand around here somewhere!

They most likely form along the Canadian shoreline
Just so we're clear here. Are you blaming Canadians in general or Canadian women for frozen balls?

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Ice balls or ice eggs have been observed in Russia, Michigan, Northern Germany, and, most recently, Finland. They can range in size from baseballs to giant boulders up to a meter across.

Very interesting. I've never seen ice balls either, but did see an amazing sight on the shore of Lake Superior once. The ice was starting to thin and a strong wind broke it up and then pushed it toward shore - resulting in what looked like a 200 yard field of giant broken glass shards sparkling in the sun. I wish I would have had a camera!! (pre smart phone days).

Balls of Ice sounds like a superhero power!
-Okay, this just made think of The Wonder Twins from The Justice League cartoon I watched as a child. They only ever seem to be able to form/shape water or ice objects. ๐Ÿค”

"Wonder Twin powers...activate!
Form of...spurting rods!
Shape of...ice balls!
