 guess hotlisting, like flirts, primarily serves as a means of non-paying members to initiate some form of contact....if the site removed that feature, there would likely be a lot less users....problem of course is such folks cant read the profile and likely dont know they are not compatible (like it matters for those that can read, but dont). its also very passive - what does it mean to the receiver? get a hotlist or flirt - ok now what - if its between two unpaid members they cant connect further except by blogs (requires effort). for us as paid members, feels like we are facilitating others - ie they expect us to buy the first drink - for those that hotlist/flirt several times over again - and they have the ability to email, indicates to us they are too lazy to send an email. course the hot couples and females likely get tons of such - which they can not possibly keep on top of...meaning that little bit of effort will largely go unnoticed or ignored completely.

We sparingly use hotlist when we come across a profile we are interested in, but dont feel like contacting at the moment...when we are ready, we can find them again....we then clean out our hotlist - list......so other than that, agree with you its a feature that churns up the activity of the site, but has little merit in facilitating anything.

 If the only effort a person wants to make to show interest is to press a button that says 'hotlist' or 'flirt' then I assume they are going to be lazy in other areas too, and that certainly doesn't interest me.
