Disc golf

Hello people, I trust you're all doing well and are healthy! I've been quite busy recently, but doing well.

I wanted to pop in real quick to promote my newly (pretty much as finished as it'll ever get) created website. I'm not exactly sure how A*F*F treats the mentioning of other websites but I'm certain they don't like it so I'll have to be very very sly about this so PAY ATTENTION LOL!!

First, a little history and backstory...

Disc golf, also known as Frisbee golf to the majority of the non-playing public, has been around for quite some time now and it's growing bigger, better and stronger every year. When I signed up to become a member of the PDGA (Professional Disc Golfers Association) back in Dec. of 2005 the number issued to me was 29046. They're now into the 80,000s.

Disc golf can be just as frustrating as ball golf and also just as much fun, I have been addicted to it since moving to Vegas and I doubt I'll every stop being involved in one way or another. It IS, however, quite a bit cheaper than ball golf: Discs cost anywhere from 10 to 20 dollars, disc bags range in size as well as price...anywhere from 20 to 80 dollars and there are plenty of accessories and carts available not to mention all the clothing items. Most courses are free to play and the ones that charge are pretty reasonable, no more than 10 dollars...usually to cover cost of maintenance.

For the most part every major city has one or more local clubs, there are tournaments happening everywhere on EVERY weekend in just about EVERY country on the planet. Our club here in Vegas has over 250 members and we host 2 major tournaments every year along with several smaller one day tournaments, usually fundraisers for local charities. There are also regular monthly events and casual play every day.

Some of you have most likely seen or walked through a disc golf course...have you ever seen one of these?...

That is a disc golf basket, the equivalent to the hole in ball golf. The object is to get your disc into the basket in the fewest throws. Sounds simple huh? By the way, that disc on the ground next to the post is my drive on a 280 foot hole at a course in Wisconsin

We have many different types of discs, their flight is based on their design. There are "driver" discs, for distance (duh), mid-range discs, shorter approach discs and putters. Our putters are the closest thing to a Frisbee. The discs we use are actually nothing like a Frisbee and you certainly don't want to catch one...they have been known to cut people right open and they really hurt. Some of the top pros can throw a disc over 500 feet, the distance record is 863 feet.

Back in 2007 I was motivated by something I saw and eventually created a MINI version of the BASKET and ended up making them for TROPHIES. Well, I've made so many of them I finally got around to building my own website in hopes of making some good money selling them for trophies or gifts.

If you would like to see more about what I do just use the 3 BIG clues together and in that order and add the dot com to the end and you'll get to see my website. I would also kindly ask you to pass the word along to those you know...REGARDLESS if they play or not...and ask them to also pass the word along because eventually somewhere along the line someone who plays will get the word. I am taking advantage of "word of mouth" advertising and kindly thank you for your gracious assistance.

Here are a few select shots from courses I have played around the country while driving the truck....

Not all courses are tightly filled with trees, but the better ones are! Some courses like our main course here in Vegas, Sunset Park, are flat and pretty open. Regardless of the course, disc golf is fun and challenging and you get to meet a lot of cool people!

Everyone is on a different plane of intelligence. Some people's plane has not taken off yet!!

Nice to see you and hear you are doing well.

I have never heard of disc golf. Wonder if it would catch on here?

Disc golf happens all over the world, you can check the PDGA site for more info to find out if there's a course near you

Long time KL. Back "in the day" I was a pretty good 'plate' tosser, I had 1 or 2 with me almost everywhere I went. Here in NoAZ I know of one disc golf course nearby in Prescott, it looks pretty challenging. But I no longer own a 'plate' .

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

If you want to get back in the game I'm certain there is a local club, more info available on the PDGA website. Who knows, you just might kick some ass in the Grandmaster or Advanced Grandmaster division
