Being in the middle of London, it is very rare to have power shortages for any length of time. It is only in the winter when there can be real problems as if the electricity goes down we have no heating or hot water as the gas boiler will not work without electricity. Only means of cooking is the barbque which is outside and if it is freezing thats no good. Then it is off to friends, if they have power, or to a restuarant in a part of London that has power. The main problems we have is a burst water main, then we can be without water for a couple of days. “For a moment, nothing happened. Then, after a second or so, nothing continued to happen.” ― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Much like this site Visit my Blog for my adventures.

Hello Joy I was thinking something happen when I didn't see you on here! Seen your post about power on another post yesterday. Being without power that long can suck. Glad to see you do have a backup. I also have stove and a grill that works with propane that I that to the races. Good to have something to cook on when you need it! Been awhile that I have been without power that long. It would be very nice to have someone with you to have something to do when you have no power lol! Butch

Morning JOY I can't remember the last time we had a power failure here! Your post did remind of when I was in the R.A.F. deployed to Aden in the early 60's. We often had power outages on the base, but it always seemed to be that they only affected our enlisted mens (my) quarters while the officers quarters across the way would have power. This got to be a bone of contention, and once or twice caused a small riot were we would make a lot of noise, and hurl abuse at any officers that dared to come close Please visit my Blog "Older but no Wiser"

Last time we had a power outage here, a substation went on fire so the electric was out for a few hours while they switched things over. Water went off unexpectedly on Friday, but thanks to social media, the water company were able to keep us up to date with progress through "sending engineer", "problem being worked on", "estimate an hour before water is back on" to "water supply back on but run your taps until the water is clear again" stages.

Power outages can be indeed distracting my lady - but seems you have weathered the storm in the truest essence of a woman : sticking your tongue to it, and taking gorgeous pics ( my favorite being the one with the coffee can ) Cheers Sparkles P

Thankfully we don't get a lot of power-'cuts' (as we say) over here. I have, on a number of occasions, 'tripped the switch' by turning on too many appliances at once! Why do they have to put the 'electricity box' so high up? We've been having some glorious weather here over the weekend.

Happy Sunday my friend so glad your power is back up and running. Not much happening here today just relaxing as we had a hot sexy night last night on the cam. It just amazes me how the cam brings out the animal so to speak in my man WOW is all I can say.. As for the weather, its very hot here today, even in the nineties it's hella hot so the A/C is running I am hoping for no power outages here as the weather heats up the A/C's go on sometimes over working the power grids..

Hi Joy... thanks for posting... I've been fortunate to travel around the world in some of my jobs... the weirdest power failure I experienced was while working in Brasilia, Brazil years ago... There was a freak thunderstorm looming in the horizon and my customer told me that we would have to stop working for the day, as the streets would be flooded in 30 minutes. He would have to move his car out of the parking garage. I thought he was crazy... because it was hot and humid and I couldn't imagine that kind of rain where there was nothing happening at the present time. 30 minutes passed and a torrential downpour hit us... the underground garage flooded... buses were floating in the streets... cats and dogs began living together... a real weird situation... they lost power for a few hours, but, we were able to finish our work the next day, on a Saturday... and, that's all I've got to say about that... made me think of this one... Taylor Swift - "Sparks Fly" The way you move is like a full-on rainstorm And I'm a house of cards You're the kind of reckless That should send me runnin' But I kinda know that I won't get far And you stood there in front of me Just close enough to touch Close enough to hope you couldn't see What I was thinking of Drop everything now Meet me in the pouring rain Kiss me on the sidewalk Take away the pain 'Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around 'Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile My mind forgets to remind me You're a bad idea You touch me once and it's really something, You find I'm even better than you imagined I would be. I'm on my guard for the rest of the world But with you I know it's no good And I could wait patiently but I really wish you would... Drop everything now Meet me in the pouring rain Kiss me on the sidewalk Take away the pain 'Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around 'Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile I'll run my fingers through your hair and watch the lights go wild. Just keep on keeping your eyes on me, it's just wrong enough to make it feel right. And lead me up the staircase Won't you whisper soft and slow? I'm captivated by you, baby, like a firework show. Drop everything now, Meet me in the pouring rain, Kiss me on the sidewalk, Take away the pain 'Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile. Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around 'Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile And the sparks fly... Oh, baby, smile... And the sparks fly... To leave private messages, please use my confidential mailbox at my blog: Good luck!!!

I envy your 24 hours of "staycation"! I still have some supplies left over from Irma...I'd be good with 24hrs of no power. (well...okay...not this week, it's 90 here, and I need the a/c!! ) But, other than the a/c...I'd take those 24hrs in a heartbeat!! If my power went, I would begin to freak out about the two freezers and 2 fridges!! I think it was last year the power went out for about 2 hours during a storm. I saw the damage in Ont. on the news We had a thunderstorm yesterday but the rain was more of a drizzle

|
My weekend was similar, the power went out at 12:54 pm Friday and stayed off until about 3:30 pm Saturday. Flipped all the breakers off but one; there is nothing sensitive to brown power or a power surge on that electric circuit, and turned on that circuit's bathroom lights and ceiling fan. The power is back on indicator!. Turned off the water valves to the well; making sure not to lose the well pump prime. Ate out ,,ugh,,,did not chose great places,,the coffee was good though. I too can make morning coffee, I have a camp metal coffee percolator. Got out a deck of cards to pass the time. Got out the oil lamps, candles and flush water and did not open the frig or freezer. The lawn got some watered too! LOL

Winter time there is a cast iron wood burning stove and extra blankets...and ice chest placed on the back deck for the refrigerator food. Don't open the freezers. No way to bathe though, well maybe a sink bath with bottled water anytime the power is lost. Three days or was it a week one winter, don't remember.
