Happy Cannabis day and it may not be as bad as you think my friend, things seem to be going well here no major issues at all. This is way over due as many who use it for medicinal purposes, it's truly a god send for them..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

Hello Joy
Love the movie Up In Smoke LMAO!
Yes I have smoked marijuana but the last time was in the 70's.
Not to sure about making it legal yet but we will see.
No I don't like the way your doing it in Canada should have the same laws for everybody. The US is leaving it up to the states some have passed it but not very many yet. I don't agree with that either makes it to confusing from one stat to another.
I don't smoke now and it's not legal in my state of Indiana.

I think the legalization of marijuana is very dangerous!
In summary, the data indicate a modest therapeutic effect, particularly in the control of pain, relief of nausea and vomiting, and stimulation of appetite. Its effects were better established for THC. But marijuana has several other components that do not have their effects studied, and can carry many risks.

Current data do not distance or support the hypothesis that medicinal use of marijuana could increase the illicit use of marijuana. At the end of the study the authors concluded that the future of therapeutic use of marijuana is associated with the development of pure substances, not with smoking.

Many years ago people died from bad whiskey, not knowing what was in it.
Illegal stills. How does one know what he is getting, how and from where is it cultivated? Drivers under the influence. I guess like booze, it is ok in moderation and being responsible. I touched on it in my 20’s. Hated it.
I was a total idiot on it. I am not 100% convinced it is a good thing.

It's certainly not for everyone and for someone like me, who has too many thoughts in his head already - smoking would definitely just create a confused mess. I imagine that there are benefits to be measured somewhere... Time will tell.

I've never touched the stuff myself....nor do I plan too!
I am afraid there is going to be a problem with those who toke and drive though. Just like cell phones and driving. Lawbreakers will break the law regardless but they put my life in danger if we are on the same road! I have already been hit by a distracted driver......drinking and driving is illegal ...now we have more to look out for!
Sources say visits to the ER will now increase and that will put more strain on the medical system that is already strained to its limit!

I've never used it for recreational purposes but have seriously thought about it medicinally

Never smoked it. Wouldn't even know how to go about getting some. And not interested in finding out either.

Not too sure on whether this is the right step. It does seem a rather unusual thing to do - you sure this is Canada that has made this legal?

Has there been enough research on the effects it has on people. I understand there is some medicinal benefit in some specific cases but I'm not convinced prescribing it for a variety of ailments is the right thing to do - there's too many side-effects as you have described. Has the additional police/medical time been sanctioned and paid for to deal with no doubt the increase in domestic or social issues that arise?

There was talk and much pressure to down scale the drug in the UK. While it would still be illegal to possess any, it wouldn't be dealt with as severely as it would had you ben found with some white powder for example. I don't wish to see it legalised in any form, thank you very much.

I am totally smoked by this post!!! I will post our state "fun" separately on my blog so as not to hog your space.
I smoked it in college. I even had a silver cigarette urn on the living room tables full of joints. One night my cat Christopher played with them and I am sure from his actions he ate part of one.
With the opioid epidemic in Maine I am not sure legalizing a drug is wise move but the residents passed it and now they deliberation is the "how"

When I was a teen and twenty something up to about 27 I smoked a lot of pot. I did not smoke much pot while in high school. How pot affected me,,,eh basically just a buzz and able to function. Functioned a lot better high on pot than booze. Near the end of my pot smoking time I would be paranoid when around people, but ok when alone. I use to smoke way to much pot and that might have been the paranoid problem. Over the years I have had an occasional toke or two but I draw the line at that point. During my spine surgery healing time, I ate candied pot and toked a bit too, loved that buzz feeling. But since then, two years now, none. Would I again take a toke...just like taking a shot of booze..yep! Both are special occasion stuff with other people.
Same laws across the country seems most sensible to me. Heard about the boarder item and the people in a legal business there...thought that was going to far on the US part. Glad the custom agents have changed the tune on this item.
Legalize? Well booze is legal and the person using it gets held responsible for their actions. Same for pot. Those that become addicted, well they are responsible for that too. eh?
Both our governments make good money off of booze so why not pot.
Bottom line a lot of humans need a fuzzy mind be it booze or drugs. Hopefully just a short escape mechanizem. Drank my two beers for the day!
Be happy Joy!
Hope your government does not tax pot to the point of it being cheaper to buy illegal, some state in the US have done just that. Silly dum dumbs!

I get high regularly but I regulate myself. Only on weekends when the ggirls are gone. Last time I had to take a piss test I was clean after 15 days. Even when I smoke I don't smoke very much, I get off very easy.

Hi Joy.

thanks for sharing this post.

I'm ambivalent to it... I hope that it works out positive for all concerned.

made me think of this one...

Willie Nelson - "Roll Me Up"

Roll me up and smoke me when I die
And if anyone don't like it, just look 'em in the eye
I didn't come here, and I ain't leavin'
So don't sit around and cry
Just roll me up and smoke me when I die.
Now you won't see no sad and teary eyes
When I get my wings and it's my time to fly
Call my friends and tell them
There's a party, come on by
And just roll me up and smoke me when I die.
Roll me up and smoke me when I die
And if anyone don't like it, just look them in the eye
Say I didn't come here, and I ain't leavin'
So don't sit around and cry
Just roll me up and smoke me when I die.
When I go out I've been here long enough
So sing and tell more jokes and dance and stuff
Just keep the music playing that'll be as good as goodbye
Roll me…

I havnt touched any since a year before my 2nd wife died, she used it medically for her MS, and wanted me to use it as foreplay for funn. It frankly never had the desired effect on me, and since it was also very illegal at the time, the '90's, I suppose I was a bit paranoid about it too. So has been over 20 years now, and never was a regular part of my life.
As to legalizing it, You Canadians will prove or disprove the theories about it over the comming years, but I suspect the USA will do the same eventaully. Since I live very near the meth capital of my state, and as I understand it, maybe in the top 5 worst places in the entire USA (according to the un-official crime stats I used to here while working in our local correctional facility), I to question legalizing any drug that could make it easier to get hi. But then I think alcohol is just as badly abused too, my opinion take or leave it, and should be regulated much better than it is today.
I am wondering what it will do to your auto insurance rates, am betting they will increase with an increase in accidents !

AND a PS, my building which has 25 residents who are all single & have some form of disability, approached me today with an offer to drive them to Canada in my full size van, lol, more want to go than I have seating for (10 total capacity), they would all chip in for gas etc, and buy a supply for me since I would be driving ! Even tho they can get it here for medical purposes, most dont cuz they are embarrassed to ask their docs. They wanted to go thru Sault Saint Marie, but now I can tell them that wont work (turned um down anyway already) since you say it must be purchased there thru mailorder. Hmm, that leaves Manitoba, a 400 mile one way trip, or Quebec, which I think is further. That would $240 in gas alone, split between 9 people, so $27 each at least, plus the product cost of course. I hope the economics of this proposal will calm them down, as I am NOT going anyway, but dont wish to argue with them further!

Marijuana was approved for medical use in my state only last year. I live a couple of blocks away from my towns only dispensary. There have been no talks yet on the state level of approving it for recreational use. If and when they do opt to approve it I'm sure Penna. Being one of the last states to still cling to a Liquor Control Board (PLC where the "State Store" is the only place you are allowed to buy hard liquor that the powers that be would set up the sale and control of legalized Marijuana in much the same fashion.

I'm not a took er, back in the day like most I did try it, and like you found it not to my taste. Making me skittish and paranoid when ever I used the stuff. Give me a Bacardi and Coke any day and I'm good to go.
