Wow... Two of my favorites. I'd always be amazed at how well they mimicked the REAL band. Takes a lot of skill. We - the band and  could do ONE song. Bands or solo singers, being seen and heard live , isn't the same sound [except for one, whom I traveled to Vancouver BC to see and hear, she [not saying who] was amazing. no.. not Cher nor Jet, nor Madonna. So, in most all cases, I like the recordings, not the live events. Like meeting an actor [an entertainer, really] in person. it's just not the same. However, seeing/hearing Dr. Hawking in person at one of his lectures, that was far better than a video.

The best tribute band I have seen are a Doors band calledDoors Alive. I have seen a lot of the bands I wanted to see Zeppelin, AC/DC, Sabbath, the Stones, White Snake, King Crimson, Rory Gallagher to name a few, even Foreigner and as you are a drummer I will mention that I saw the great Ginger Baker. Enjoy your gig.

Hi Joy thanks for taking me further with tribute bands hmm tough questions So: If you can not see your fave. band live, have you gone to watch their Tribute bands instead? Never, I like the originals, although I have enjoyed remakes of their songs by other artists, so, they become new firsts for me What is your own favourite band and have you been lucky enough to hear them live? I have many fave bands, I've seen a few of them I have a few favourite Foreigner and Journey songs of own and will blog them both this weekend.. Which ones of those two bands are your faves? Had 2 good AC/DC tribute vands around my parts as well as a Stone Temple Pilot tribute band.. Seen Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones, Squeeze (Oingo Boingo opened), Springsteen , Kiss Would have loved to see Nirvana and the Stone Temple Pilots

It was youthful times. living the music as much as possible. I am glad the music today isn't on 8 track tapes anymore... always hated when the song was mid way thru and it had to pause to change tracks The Hubby

I've watched a number of tribute bands over the years (some very good and some bloody awful). I can't wait for our the re-opening of our expanded concert hall in town later this year. Hopefully they'll be less tribute bands and more of the real thing.
