A Funniness Void

Today, I feel as though I've lost my humor.

Where there once resided my sarcasm and wit now rests a vacancy sign.

I'm overwhelmed at work. I'm watching a press conference about hoarding. I experienced one of my new hires tell me he received an eviction notice yesterday. I watched people panic today after Governor Whitmar put our state on lock down.

I think I'm going to need more than a snickers to get through this....

just when you think it couldn't get any worse

boom

I hear you

even though I'm working remotely now, I had to get out

it was a beautiful day, the sun was out temp in the 80's, A/C on

now, that is life in God's country

toilet paper on the shelves

milk & eggs available for sale

gasoline down to $1.45.99 per gallon OMG

stress level went down significantly

b+

please, take care of yourself

re-charge those batteries when you can, and often

made me think of this

Cream - "White Room"

In the white room with black curtains near the station.
Black-roof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings.
Silver horses run down moonbeams in your dark eyes.
Dawn-light smiles on you leaving, my contentment.

I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines;
Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves.

You said no strings could secure you at the station.
Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows.
I walked into such a sad time at the station.
As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning.

I'll wait in the queue when the trains come back;
Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves.

At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd.
Consolation for the old wound now forgotten.
Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes.
She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings.

I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd;
Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves.
I've always really loved this song.... I've never read the lyrics until today. Thank you.

Budweiser seems to be helping me lol...although my job won't be shutting down, so I at least still have work to go to every day
My kids are at their dad's this week.... So I don't even have to drink the wine in secret. I should have broke open a bottle last night.... Definitely doing it tonight.

Sometimes it's difficult not to see the dark sides of this......but then the nice things come along. I was worrying about my dad, he lives 100 miles away, is well into his 80s and is self isolating, and now we're not allowed to visit him/bring in provisions etc (and rightly so). And then an old pal from school called me said he lives round the corner, could he do anything? First time I'd heard from him in decades. People, in the main, are good. The good things will prevail.

I hope you're well McLade!
Today was a much better day for me than yesterday.... And, you are right. Deep down, most of us are good people who go out of our way to look out for others. My anxiety was high yesterday, sometimes it clouds my perspective on things and I have to work through it all.

I'm glad to hear your dad has someone looking in on him!

It's all good... until it isn't.
I've rarely been able to predict the EXACT, ending to a complex movie and THIS... is one of THOSE. 😶
A tricky plot requires some patience to flip through.
Be patient. We'll all wind up at the other end.
In the meantime, I'm not seeing the credits yet. 👍
I had a rough day yesterday.... The president's conference didn't help. Today is a new day, and I'm looking at things with fresh eyes. I'm not sleeping well..... And I've internalized a lot, but I'm still thankful for everything I do have.
