Mini Sabbatical Day One

I was hoping for a relaxing, zen kind of experience.... It turned out to be a little more bipolar with a side of cray cray.

As usual, I woke up at the butt crack of dawn, only this time I woke up with a hint of sore throat.

Are you kidding me??

Is it irritation from seasonal allergy drainage? Coronavirus??

Um, yah.... Nope. It was from snoring.

I remember once, when the hippie and I first started having sleep over visits, I woke up in the middle of the night and he had his pillow wrapped around his head.

He said my snoring rivaled that of an air horn.

It's no wonder I'm still single....

Snoring... The new sexy!!

I picked the Spawn up after work on Wednesday because she hasn't been doing her online school work at her dad's. I always end up being the bad guy, being the disciplinarian, and it makes me want to kick his ass sometimes.

He's not doing the any favors by being their 'pal'.

So, I took her phone away when she got up and told her she didn't get it back until ALL of her school work was done. She pissed and moaned about it for a while, then finally got on the computer and did it.

Or, so I thought.

Those teachers are funny beings, though.... I received a phone call from her math teacher telling me she had logged into the classroom but hadn't turned in any of her assignments.

I was pissed!

"Care to explain why your math teacher just called and said you haven't done any of your WORK??"

"I can't believe he ratted me out!"

"Phone, NOW!! CLASSWORK, NOW!! I will be calling him back to verify it is done once you are completed."

"I'm doing it, geez.... I just can't believe he ratted me out."

"I can't believe you LIED to me. You can consider your phone a distant memory."

With nothing else to do with my time, I ended up cleaning the bathroom, doing two loads of laundry, and vacuuming my entire apartment all before noon.

She goes back to her dad's for the weekend today, I might just try to tackle that pig sty of a bedroom during my time off.

Or, not.

That could be her punishment for the next time she tries to weasel out of doing her school work.

That had me laughing. Does she not know that's the main purpose of a teacher's life?? lol
Oh, she is a STINKER! I love her so much though... I did tell her at one point, 'of course he did, that's his job!'

I so glad I have no kids for ild be in jail with out bail. the more and more I talk to people and what they go through. yes we where kids once yes we did fk up things. that's one reason I think I didn't want any. in time they grow up but its hell first.
When I was younger, I never wanted to have kids. I had a not so pleasant childhood and was certain I didn't want to put anyone else through what I went through.

And then I got pregnant for my oldest son... It wasn't planned. I was pretty terrified, but it taught me a lot about myself. I was stronger than what I thought I was. I'm unconventional, but I'm a good mom and I broke that cycle. It gave me courage that I never knew I had. Most importantly, for the first time in my life, I felt what true, unconditional love was supposed to feel like.

And it didn't feel like I was an obligation....

they can be difficult to keep going on school work when one parent isn't holding up their end. I'm glad I'm done with that.

I didn't know I snored until my wife told me...though then again now that I think about it I do remember the guys in basic training in the nearby bunks saying something about it way back then. Lol. I used to most always sleep on my side until I was forced to sleep on my back while in the hospital for a few weeks back years ago. I guess since then I find myself waking up on my back often. That's when I snore.

Yeah I think I would have her clean her own room. You defeat yourself by doing it yourself though it's okay to help her do it and that way you can be sure she gets it done right and then you can go play a game or something.
I'm a side sleeper... Have been pretty much my whole life. One arm under my pillow, one leg bent, one foot out of the covers. LOL I think I tend to snore when I've been drinking or when I'm super tired.

I don't know how that online teaching will work. I don't think it should ever replace the classroom.
So... ya think she learned her lesson? 🤔
One of her questions on today's work assignment was.... How did you find time to complete your math assignments. LOL She answered it with, my mom took my phone away when you called her. Her teacher called to fill me in on the funny story. I appreciated it!

Snoronavirus is nothing to sneeze at, for us light sleepers it can be a relationship killer. All this distancing has provided me with new and interesting ways to procrastinate about things that need to be done.
The Hippie was a very light sleeper.... Birds chirping would keep him awake. Thankfully, I don't do that all the time....

Phones are a wonderful tool to get things done! So is internet access! I have also cleaned rooms and threatened to throw things away...... or at least hiding them for a while!
She's grounded from it for a week. I'm still mad about it. This is why I'm not cut out to be a home school mom.
