And... She went on an adventure!

And... She went on an adventure!

It was a Jack Nicholson kinda day....

I had been feeling like a shut-in without a cat hoarding addiction when I decided just go.

Leave.

Get the HELL out of Dodge.

And, I went here.

I live near a lot of amazing stuff, most of the time I take it for granted. I'm going stop doing that.

If I hadn't ventured out this weekend, I would have never caught the live music performance at Mackinaw Crossings. I would have missed meeting the 900 year old drummer who couldn't remember my name and gave me a shout out from the stage.

"Thank you Gaylord!"

I would have missed seeing the sunset Sturgeon Bay while I swatted at the swarming mosquitoes and eventually ran for cover in my car. It was a beautiful, bright orange sunset with a buzzing black hue.... While I didn't get a photo of this particular sunset, I thought you might enjoy one that I took last summer.

Some things in life are just absolutely amazing.

Happy Sunday!

I'm looking forward to next weekend, I'm taking a 4 day weekend. Not sure what I'm going to do yet, but I'm sure I'll think of something.

It really is beautiful up here... You just have to be able to tolerate the northern Michigan winters. If you like to ski or snowmobile, it's perfect for you.

I've done the naked swimming thing... The problem is, as soon as you think you've walked far enough for some privacy, someone comes along on a kayak or something. Or, someone decides to park their asses right next to where you have your stuff. Frustrating.

I totally agree.... Just sitting near it, listening to the waves, absorbing the sun rays. My kind of relaxation.

Beautiful photos McLade.......especially that bridge porn! Lattice girder approach beams and suspension cables to the main span, cor blimey, doesn't get any sexier than that!!
It's the Mackinaw Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the Western Hemisphere. I've got quite a few pics of the bridge at various times of the year... I've even got a photo of my kids in the water under the bridge. It's a pretty cool thing.

    Hi secret_lade

    thanks for sharing this one

    it's good to escape

find that place that soothes you

a place where you can re-charge

    alone, without being lonely

take each day, one at a time

    find those "firsts"

the things that we take for granted

    luv the pics

when I see something that moves me, like a double rainbow, or the rain hitting the train window while the slow thump, thump is in my mind, or a sunset in the Phillipines, or the view from Reunion Tower Ball, or many other moments, I try to capture them forever

    appreciate them

    hmm

    be safe

    The Elected - "Beautiful Rainbow"

My love, she is a rainbow
She moves from east to west
My love, she is the wind blowing
Through my heart in my chest
And she's the sun, the afternoon
I've seen her shining the whole day through
And you know, something just changes
    When you see a rainbow
Her smile, it is the ocean
    Crashing on my eyes
Her arms, they are the oak trees
And she's reaching for the sky
And she's the lake under the moon
I've seen her twinkling the whole night through
And you know, something must be changing
    Cause I've seen a rainbow
I'm a picture taker... I take pics of everything. It helps me to remember and relive my fun times and interesting experiences. When I was scanning through the pics on my phone to find the sunset picture I was looking for, I couldn't help but smile and relive a few memories as I was passing by.

Is that what passes for a beach in Michigan? Where's the sand?
A 900 yr old drummer is probably lucky if he can remember the song he's playing, Gaylord!
No, not all of the beaches are stone like that. Depends on what great lake you are on and what part of the state. The water levels on the great lakes are super high right now, though, so a lot of the beach has disappeared even on the beachy side of the state. The band was actually pretty decent, played a lot of classic rock. His conversation starter was "Man, sitting on that stool really kills my back. I should have taken an ibuprofen." LOL

I love that movie enough that I own it. LOL For those people that don't live in Northern Michigan, I'm sure it sounds like a funny name... For those of us that do, it's just kind of, the name of a town.

Lovely pics....glad you ventured out n about. I sense a lot of us will be forgoing the traditional vacations for a more smaller, personal more reflective venture, until they get a handle on the state of things. It was a perfect weather weekend here for those kind of jaunts. ~~
It was nice and sunny all weekend, but Saturday was kind of chilly. I do enjoy the quick jaunts and day trips, but, I'm ready to get a week off. It's going to have to wait though, summer is our busy time at work.
