Peer Pressure How many of us fall prey to peer pressure every day? Without even realizing it?? I know I do, all the time. The residue of the date I ate in yesterday's leadership meeting is PROOF of it!! Did I want to eat it? Nope... I wrinkled my nose up at it. I scoffed in disdain at the mere thought of eating the ugly thing. Did I eat it? Yep.... The minute Nose Hairs said "come on! Even [Nikki J] ate one. Heck, she ate two." I knew I was in, I was trying the fucking date. The real question is, how many times a day do I actually succumb to such pressures? The answer? Way more than I thought! So, somewhere between agreeing to attend a get-together I really didn't want to go to and telling Nose Hairs I was going research the Bolshevik Revolution, I realized, I do a whole hell of a lot of stuff I don't really want to do simply because 'So and So is doing it. You should do it too! It'll be fun!' Fun for who?? Certainly not me, egads! I ate a fucking date and THAT wasn't fun! Drano wouldn't have removed the date residue from my teeth. Now, here I sit, typing up a blog post on my laptop while peering through information about a revolution on my tablet. Peer pressure at it's finest.... |

Peer pressure, pretty much all of us have given in to it when we were younger. These days, not going to happen. I've experimented enough in my youth to know what I do and don't like, as far as food tastes go. Hmm... fresh dates have a different taste, to me, than dried or even candied I've had the dried ones first, then candied. Years went by before I was able to get my hands on any fresh ones. I'll admit, the taste of the candied ones spoiled me.  Fresh dates are an acquired taste, and I leave it/them at that. Now sea urchin... I've only had that as sushi, which is generally served alongside a quail egg at most of the joints around here. It tends to remind me a bit of a sponge. A soft, squishy texture, but with a dose of saltwater and an underlying flavor of iodine. It not off-putting to my palette, but not something that I have every time I get my fish on. I'm more likely to have octopus or squid over urchin.   "Be who you are and say what you feel. Those who matter won't mind, and those who mind won't matter." ~ Dr. Seuss.

It depends on who I'm around. When I'm around work peeps, I'm way more prone to peer pressure.

Oh... I'd definitely have a hard time munching on a sea urchin. Um... yah.... Don't think I could do it.

No need in asking why we bow to peer pressure. Being social creatures it’s ingrained in our psyche to be accepted by the group. This ingrained trait is probable resultant to the fact that in our primordial past if you were not accepted by the group, you died! Especially when offered food. That’s why you ate the date.

Is that not what that muppet posts plls about all day long.........no wait, that PEE PEE pressure!! Yikes, if I had a quid for every time I forced down some horrible food for the sake of being polite I'd be minted! Worst one ever was in a 3rd world setting, some mutton in an otherwise tasty nut dish which I had to chew for what felt like a week to get that horrible bit of gristle down........but hey, to my hosts it was a feast, how could I turn my nose up at that?

hmm when I was in the Phillipines a few years ago teaching a class, I took the students to a team lunch. they brought out a delicious fish. they offered me the eyes. I told them that I had had fish eyes last night at another dinner, and, it wouldn't be fair for me to enjoy both sets. another time, I palmed a taste of some kind of dish that would've of made me sick, and deposited it in the nearest napkin hint: next time you have free food options, make sure you have napkins in hand (great place to hide things) and, the proverbial, nod to no one in particular and hurry over to them, so that you are out of the limelight, then find a napkin or, politely say "no thanks" I had 50 dates already hmm be safe LA TOYA JACKSON - "Just Say No" Just say no (No!) Say no Everybody say no Say no Just say no (No!) Say no Brothers and sisters What are you crying for? People are dying What are they dying for? You've got to be so strong Don't let them lead you on And take you in Into their misery There's a chance you just can't take It's a game no one should play The future is in your hands If you just say no

I only started wearing one because I'm forced to.... I'll be honest. When its lifted, and I'm no longer mandated, my mask wearing days are over. The masks affect my anxiety and I spend the first half hour... Forty five minutes of my work day fighting off a panic attack because I feel like I'm suffocating.

How can I get someone to peer pressure me into sex? LOL...... My boss did that 2 weeks ago..... but it got me a raise so it was a win
