On today's episode of 'What the Fuck was he thinking?!?'

On today's episode of 'What the Fuck was he thinking?!?' Secret_lade is facilitating an orientation for a new guy who smells like he's spent the last two weeks clam baking in a clown car. In what realm of existence could something like this EVER be considered acceptable??? Playing it safe and getting a second opinion, I wrangled up my Evil Work Twin and Boss #2 to do a drive and verify my suspicions. The verdict was unanimous.... The guy was as shit. The fact that his pupils were dilated to the size of dimes did him no favors, either. The highlight of my day was having the 'Drug Free Work Place' conversation with the Pot Head. Not surprisingly, he claimed to have been 'present' while others were smoking but did not actually *partake* in the activity. Um... Yah..... And, I'm a multimillionaire who works the most stressful job on earth for FUN!! Here's the thing folks... If you can pass for an extra on the set of 'Up in Smoke', you should be in a different line of work. Happy Monday. |

He sounds like somebody that if you asked them; "what would you do for stiff joints". He'd reply with; "roll them thinner."

I knew someone in junior high that walked through a field filled with weeds for a field trip once. The school called his mother when he came to the office to get his locker combination because he was so stoned from those weeds in the field and he could not remember what it was. This is what kind of an allergic reaction he had. He was stoned due to a field trip that he could not get out of and almost got suspended for something that was not his fault. That was about 40 years ago.

If your place of business is non drug environment, how did he pass the on boarding drug test ?

The legalization of marijuana has made it a little bit trickier where I live, especially if it's medical marijuana use. We have to start by coaching with the policy and expectations. Our benefits package also has quite a bit built into it to help employees who may want to reach out for help with drug/alcohol abuse. We have had a couple of employees reach out for help and turn their lives around, so while it may seem like a failed process, it actually does work. Then there are those that wind up terming out for failed drug screens.... It's all up to the employee.

I do believe you were being very nice to imply that the guy was thinking or was even able to do so. The only question I have is: Do you think there is any kind of work he would be able to do?

So, did you have the conversation about hanging with such friends would cause a cessation of employment if he tests positive (or over the limit)? Or the conversation with the rest of management that continuing to bring him on is a waste of resources?

Clam bake in a clown car'...! 👍 😂 lol Now THERE'S something I haven't seen since I was a kid. ❗ I recall going to the circus, as a tyke, with my parents and watching those jesters pile out of a Volkswagen. I think I lost count after 20, or so, had clambered out. I was mesmerized. Just when you thought they were done - they'd blow the horn, and another brightly coloured buffoon would crawl out - stumbling over his super-sized red shoes. To this day, I still can't figure out how they did it. A trap door in the bottom of the arena floor? Whatever happened to those pranksters? The circus doesn't come by anymore; animal rights groups took care of THAT. 😶 Do all those clowns 🤡 hang out at some Clown Retirement Home? 🤔 Thanks for the visual. Clams, huh?
