One year with COVID.

Today marks an anniversary with Michigan. It was one year ago today that the first COVID case was diagnosed in Michigan.

I certainly didn't think that, one year later, we would still be dealing with all this stuff.

Masks...

Businesses open at half capacity....

Workforce insecurity....

Schools closing....

Once again it looks like the schools where I live are closed again to face to face learning.

Rumors were flying around lunch time yesterday and employees were lined up at my office to ask me if it was true.

Two texts from the school, two phone calls, and two emails later...

It was true. Apparently there were enough positive cases diagnosed in three of our schools that it was deemed necessary to close all schools and spend the week sanitizing them.

Here we go again.

I'm just so, so ready to resume a normal life again.

I don't feel as though anything will ever feel normal again.

They're throwing out all the restrictions down here, and I fear we're going to be back where y'all are, soon.

I'm really hoping that coming out of lockdown will be gradual, and that the government won't be persuaded by other parties to go against what the scientists are advising.

It's been an amazing year. Our lockdowns have been much more restrictive over here, and so many people are so tired of it and are so ready to get back to some sort of normality.

The variants which keep appearing are some cause for concern, but the science seems to be accelerating now and there's reasonable cause for optimism that vaccinations and subsequent boosters will limit the spread, and then herd immunity will control it. I guess though Covid in some form or other, like the flu, is here to stay. Some normality though will return. Things I miss most are travel, and knowing that I could pop out for a meal or a beer anytime (not that I did too often anyway.)

But given the suffering and worse of many many people, it remains no more than an inconvenience to me personally, and I'm happy to be patient for now. Easy for me to say, I can't imagine the struggles of people who have lost so so much.

Heid doon McLade, it will be over before you know it.....and remember, we're looking forward to you flashing that lovely........smile! ( Yer arse would be nice too, but hey, that's just a forlorn request from a cheeky scotsman!! )

I am looking forward to getting my shots. Heard the Covid restrictions are being ease a bit here in Wisc.
A semblance of normal will feel so good. Want to go to the beach again this summer. Did not last year. I need to spend more time among people wearing very little. (Wearing nothing would be better.)

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.
