A first really for my boss. During the Halloween season they usually go all out. Living in a corner town home on two major streets the place is usually decked out in spiders, pirates, various amputated and bloody body parts, or some other such Halloween-ish display. This year, nothing. I did see his wife out last Friday, and I assumed that she was getting ready to put up a display, turns out that she was just hanging some towels over the railing to air dry them on that great sunny day we had.

I guess all things come to an end. Though I think the kids in the area will be a bit let down. Its great when your the best decorated house in the area I suppose, but taking all that stuff back down again when Halloween is over ( some years doing so in a early snow storm ) can be a pain in the butt. The boss himself was on vacation last week, off in the woods somewhere down state hunting turkey's. So, that might be the reason they didn't go all out this year as usual? He's the one that normally decorates.

Pumpkins...not as many of those around this year either. Of the five or so I've seen on the property one has already been reduced to the "get the shovel to scrape it up " stage. It looks more like a pumpkin pie that's been left out in the rain rather than a Jack-O-Lantern. Thank god they had it on their back porch. It was carved too soon you see. People always rushing the season like that. Two of the other four are going into the moldy stage already...looking a bit green around the gills. They may last till Saturday...but they won't be the best looking pumpkins on the block that's for sure. The other two, were just placed out this past weekend. The four have all been set up in the main stairwells, two in one building and two more in another. A big No-no really. Lets face it after being carved the things start to rot, and being left in a warm stairwell the rot progresses swiftly. Case in point the moldy ones I mentioned. I took the matter up with the PM. yesterday and left the ball in her court. Under the old owners the tenants could decorate all they wanted for any holiday. Just no real stuff. IE no freshly carved pumpkins or live Christmas trees. Pumpkins because the rot and people tend to forget about tossing them out fast enough and leaving me to deal with the nastiness of getting rid of them, and no live trees because they are a fire hazard. To compound the problem getting rid of old trees that are shedding their needles like rain is hard to do as the dumpster people don't want them being tossed into the bins. Again because they are a fire hazard. What happens now is her problem.

The thing is we don't get many trick or treat er's around here. Being a apartment complex the kids tend to stay on the main drag to their Halloween rounds. So decorating is rather pointless really.

Any who..time for me to hit the showers.....
