On social media yesterday I found out a good friend of mine has tested positive for the virus. She, a teacher, has been off work for a bit after a co-worker tested positive. No doubt they picked the bug up from one of their students. My friend is currently at home, battling the bug. To say she's feeling like crap is an understatement. I met her a good while ago, back in the AOL chat room days. She was there for me when I was feeling bad after the ex wife walked out on the kids and I. The lady helped clear my head, made me laugh at myself and what I was going through and look on the brighter side. When I wrapped my head around my situation and was ready to face the world again..My friend was there for me. Setting me up with dates with her single friends. Yeah, those dates didn't always work out. We may have had the same tastes in women ( at the time she considered herself bi ) but I think I only had eyes for her. Though that wasn't in the cards..she was married to a guy I considered a friend as well.

Well, time moves on..and so did her husband, he found another. I stepped up and was there for my friend. Making her laugh, chatting with her and cheering her up when she felt down. Yeah, we went out a couple of times as well. "Dates" didn't mesh right between us though. It was like we were going out with a family member...although there was love, the passion wasn't there, we both felt like that and decided to just remain friends.

As I've said before, the hits of 2020 just keep coming. Till now I didn't really know anyone personally who had the bug. It was all just numbers and facts reported on the nightly news. But it has hit home now...someone I care about, and love like a sister is going through something I can't help her with. All I can do is worry and wait, and hope that she gets better.

We tend to forget that the numbers we hear about each night on the news are people. Someones wife, husband, Father, Mother, or sibling. We've lost too many already to this bug, and so many more are sick and going through this hell alone in hospital, comforted only by Doctor's, nurses and first line care givers. Bless those who look after those who are ill as they are doing the job better reserved for saints and angels. The front line workers on this thing are going through a hell themselves, over worked and tired they still wake up everyday and go on...a big thanks from me that they do.

I can't help my friend get through this aside from being there should she need to chat, cheering her as best I can on line..but I can do more,we all can. Just follow the basics people.. Mask Up, wash your hands often, social distance when your around others, get tested ,and if your feeling sick stay home. We are all in this together..believe it.

I'm sure your friend is just pleased to know that you are there for her, maybe not physically but emotionally. You're a good friend

I'll be praying for your friend. How is she feeling? Decent? Or awful?
Hopefully she has started taking stuff to support and boost her immune system.
