I once read a book about magic users who, for protection would never reveal their real names. As their name was the root of all their power in that magic world they lived in. Once a foe knew your real, or true name you were sunk. As they could use it for leverage over you, casting spells, drawing on your power thus sapping your magic strength. By now you must have heard that the Cleveland baseball club has changed its name. I get it, the old one was considered offensive to Native Americans. It was no great shock when the news came out yesterday on their new name. Now I'm not really a sports fan. Tossing a ball around growing up, playing a sand lot game with friends or a quick game at recess in school was and is the extent of my interests in sports. Sitting in the stands or watching a game on TV. seemed kind of silly to me. Grown men making more money in a season than I would in five years of working at my day job. It just sort of seemed un fair. But hey, It's nice work if you can get it. It beats cleaning toilets any day. The name change really has no affect on me. As I said I don't follow sports. It is the name fans have come to know and it will take some time before the new name fully replaces the old. Off to shower now....

Most people are not nearly as offended as we would think. The screamers on tv are offended by everything. Locally, nothing. Our dominantly Indian towns still often have Indian type names, Warriors, Savages, Redskins. Ok many Oklahoma towns that are the typical mix have Indian sports names too. Nobody here is protesting.
