The only local steakhouse I can think of are the Texas Roadhouse chains, which I hate. The humidity you feel when you walk in reminds me of the"meat sweats". I had prime rib there once, and once was enough. Never again.

Most places here in SoCali that are doing the "soft re-open" require patrons to still wear their masks while inside the restaurants, if you're not eating. No lolly-gagging in the lobbies; have to go outside to do that.

Reservations are recommended so they can finagle seating for proper distancing. I see this might be a problem at the more popular places (Outback Steakhouse, i.e.), but it can be done so long as everyone has the patience to endure.

I went out with a family member at an AYCE Chinese buffet. Sadly, the buffet isn't opened yet, but we got to sit down and select from what they had, and regain that "being in a restaurant" feeling. Food was served on thick, disposable paper plates, with plastic utensils and plastic drink cups. Good idea, I think. Less clean up to do in the long run when word gets out that they're opened again.

It's going to be a slow process, but it can be done if you're cautious enough. There's always delivery and take out.

I'd say it's worth it for the stuff that I normally wouldn't cook or CAN't cook at home. So sure...

Portland City Council has blocked off streets so that restaurants can do out-side service!!! I dont plan to patronize any of them except for to-go. I am waiting to do DiMillos ( floating boat) where I can get a large bowl of Melissa's chowder- cant make that at home

I miss eating out McCharles, not that I eat out particularly often, more that I know I can't at the moment, if that makes sense.

When I do eat out I enjoy the ideas that are presented, but I'm often disappointed in the cookery or the presentation. Call me a smart arsed git, indeed. But sometimes it seems that I can do it so much better myself.

I don't think I'll be going to a restaurant any time soon, I'm not sure I'd find it very relaxing in the current circumstances.

I'm sure that the environmentalists are having a field day with that. Instead of using plates, glasses and flatware (which is washed in a dishwasher with soap and water at about 200 degrees, killing any viruses) they are using single use plasticware that goes right into the landfill, as the recycle centers do not take plastic that is contaminated with food residue. Or are they washing the plastic before putting it in the bin?

Hmm, you do have a point there.

I can't really say, but can speculate. Since some of these places have opened back up for business, I'm under the impression that the local health inspector has done their job before giving them the go-ahead.

*If it were up to me*, I'd have the employees wash the plastic of residue before putting it in the recycle bin. I do that at home anyway with recyclables, but not everyone does that in general. Some people just give it a once-over with the spray nozzle they might have attached to the side of the kitchen sink, and not actually put a bit of soap to it.

I'm not a good cook... So, I kind of enjoy eating out. I'll be honest, though, I've really liked doing the take out thing and just doing curbside. It's too expensive to do all the time, but I tend to do it a couple of times a week.
