Lounging

Beautiful evening tonight. I sat on the porch for a while before I came inside and settled down in front of the TV.

After scrolling through the channels I decided on Jaws. It's a classic but I wasn't sure what categoryI would classify it as?

Do you consider this a horror film?

Is it deadly and suspenseful enough to be considered horror?

What other categories would you classify it in?

I love JAWS and almost have to sit and watch it if i come across it on television. My favorite scene is when they are all comparing scars and then start singing. Robert Shaw as Quint is amazing!

"Here's to swimmin'with bow legged women!"

That is a great question about what you would classify it as. Horror doesn't seem like the exact right genre but I wasn't sure what would be. So I did what everyone does these days when we don't know something: I Googled it aka Cheated.

There were several answers including Drama Thriller and Horror.
I would go with thriller.

More drama than horror. But back in the 70s. Definately horror.

More like action/adventure although it is a little far fetched. While I have never heard of a shark doing something like that I understand Moby Dick was based on the true story of a whale sinking a ship so it's not something that would be impossible.

I would say action horror. At the time it was really scary. In today's world though its not really scary. I know when I first saw it as a kid I was terrified to go into the ocean.
