II woke this morning to the sounds of a a thunderstorm. It's going to be a nasty, rainy day. A good day to relax, read, and reflect on the world around me. Man, is it a mess!!
I've been on this site for quite some time and while I find it entertaining it's also been somewhat eye opening. So many fakes, imposters, and scammers it's hard to keep track. Most are so obvious it boarders on laughable. I love it when someone tells me their from Kansas, or Pennsylvania, or Alabama and go on to say "I am seeking for long time relations". As we sometimes say in the south "you're not from around here, are you?". Like I said....It's entertaining.
Even among the "real people" one has to sort out those here to boost their ego versus those who are really interested in finding friends and/or relationships.
All of that having been said there are some good people here. I've made a few friends. Met a few interesting people and generally had a decent experience. I just wish there were more real people with real relationship goals that live in the same hemisphere as me.

It isn't easy.

The last few years have been a challenge to say the least. I was the caregiver for my late wife for nearly nice years. She gave up her fight against Lewy Body Dementia six years ago. Since then I've moved, lived alone, traveled, dated and reentered life.
Then COVID comes along and fucks that up. So far two overseas trips have been cancelled. Return trips to Italy, Ireland and first time trips to Austria and Germany have been put on hold. Fuck COVID.
Sunday I learned a lifelong friend's fight against cancer ended. I immediately thought of his recent comment to me "getting older isn't for the weak. You have to be tough to get old....". Paul you were one tough of a bitch. I raise my glass and say "Semper Fi. old friend" and from this old sailor "Fair winds and following seas."
I'm in good health. I take care of myself by eating right and exercising. I love life and try to have fun along the way.
I urge anyone reading this to grasp life by the throat and live it to the utmost everyday. It's the only way to go.
Okay my venting is done......

Why is that it seems all the really nice connections are so far away? Aren't there some near by? Not complaining just saying...

I came to this site a few days ago on a lark. I was highly skeptical of the people and, of course, who was real and who wasn't. I'm sure most have the same thoughts.
I was pleasantly surprised to find some real and very good people. There were the bots but they are usually easy to spot. The real people are there.
I've been fortunate to chat with a completely amazing woman. I hope my good fortune continues.
Hang in there people. Its a grand world out there.
Update: I have to say I get a laugh out of the bots. Sometimes the sentences don't even make sense. It's like they are waving a flag saying "I'm a phony".
