It's Why-Day

1. Why are some people so mean on social media? There is a real person with real feelings behind the profile - at least most of the time.

2. My crockpot dinner is smelling amazing. It's sort of Tex-Mex chicken soup.

3. It's shocking how many jars of Herdez green salsa go through this house.

4. I've been cycling just under 9 miles per day lately. I feel like it has taken 20 years off my age.

5. Friday I finished reading Conviction and then read all of You're a Badass. Now I'm reading Design Thinking for Strategic Innovation and Conscious Business by Fred Kofman. The last one was actually an assigned book in a doctoral philosophy class a few years ago, but I just got around to reading it. Shhh...don't tell my professor.

6. My theme song should be Let It Go...because I don't... When someone hurts me I like to make them suffer. Fortunately, I don't get my feelings hurt easily or frequently, but when I do I want to be a real pain in the ass. I must say my would laugh at that. They think I'm hilariously harmless. Maybe I only WANT to be a pain in the ass. Maybe I'm really not. Who knows?

7. I saw an episode of Ancient Aliens the other night that scared me. It was about zombies. That is a scary concept to me.

8. I'm having a craving for a big piece of chocolate cake with a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. I won't have it, but it would be good.

9. Why doesn't sarcastic snarky-ness translate well in writing? I must get better at it. A lot of people on social media (yes, that again) seem to think I'm mean. My tells me that Oscar Wilde says sarcasm is the highest form of intelligence and that if people think I'm mean it's because they're not smart of enough to understand my snark.

10. I'm not feeling the love lately. I'm totally feeling sorry for myself. Self-pity is quite unattractive, and I don't even care right now.

I think days like this are a reminder of how isolated we are and how desperately we want to connect and how afraid and vulnerable we feel to make the connections and human contact we sometimes need. That is when we just need to call a friend and say can you take ten minutes and talk to me? It does not have to be about anything in particular. I just need to hear your voice. That is true love.

Yes, that sums it up exactly.

I'm such a literal thinker that when I picture that I'm pretty sure you would get hurt.

1. People in general are angry. Life has gotten complicated and our emotions are being intensely (and dangerously) manipulated in myriad ways by businesses and politicians. Trolling is a symptomatic reaction.
2. A crockpot is your best friend. The aromatics it releases are not only amazing but comforting. The perfect complement to an inviting home.
3. We would expect nothing less from a Texan.
4. Yes! And it only gets better as your mileage increases.
5. Every life is filled with unfinished business. Good on you for working through your personal checklist.
6. We all aspire to a lead role in a *revenge fantasy*. It’s human factors. Letting go of your shit is less natural, but still achievable. Be present. Be honest (radically, if necessary). Align your words and your actions. Simple, right?!
7. Before we rush to judgment, someone needs to write an “Interview with a Vampire” treatment for a zombie. Let’s not knock until we’ve tried it.
8. “The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it.” Oscar Wilde as well.
9. Your daughter did not provide Wilde’s complete thought: “Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit but the highest form of intelligence.” The issue is that the audience is looking for humor and not finding it.
10. It’s January! We’re all feeling the low winter sun. This too shall pass.

My position on "social" media is that it is ANTI-social. Also, since the haters usually don't know who they are talking about they really have no clue as to what they are talking about. I suggest taking that position to everyone on ANTI-social media. Personally I just don't bother with it.

7. I saw an episode of Ancient Aliens the other night that scared me. It was about zombies. That is a scary concept to me.
I think that guy with the wild hair is scarier.

8. I'm having a craving for a big piece of chocolate cake with a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. I won't have it, but it would be good. We could share one

This, and choose who you snark with carefully. Wanna . . . snark

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Because they know it's impossible to punch them.

When dueling was outlawed I'm sure there would have been an escalation of rudeness too.

Following my advice may cause injury, insanity, financial loss, hemorrhoids, death and superpowers

You are so right. I'd like to punch a couple of them.

Define "mean' !
Watch the old game shows that air across local fox channels (not the cable news).

By "all" standards today, those people of the 70s (guess and entertainers) are mean and sexist. It's pathetic and some woman today will say your mean because you raised your voice over their own screaming.

In the 70s we called it humor, humility and slap stick, the ability to laugh, with others, at yourself. Women were woman, they dressed and acted like women and they took joy in being feminine - not the fem'macho feminazis men hating twits baby boomers raised. Who in turn born a bunch of pussymen who couldn't flight their way out of a paper bag. And, wouldn't even if it meant saving their own life or the lives of friends and family.

The problem is, society has allowed a bunch of politicians to redefine the dictionary because they were too lazy to teach their own children about sex (and other worldly things) and let governments take over their very existence. To that very point, a women in utah is about to go to jail for ten years because 9 & 13 olds saw her shirtless/braless inside her own home. Just who's fault is that stupid law.

It's easier for a lot of people to be a Coward on a computer or a phone and be mean and insulting then to have the balls to talk about someone to their face. Social media has gone to hell and only brings negativity and problems.
