The New Neighbor

We have lived in our house for years. The guy next door bought his house shortly before we did. He's currently about 35'ish years old. A of years ago, he moved of the house and rented it his sister and or roommates. We never had a problem with anyone. They are very quiet and stay themselves, and so do we.

About a week and a half ago, they moved out and a of 20-something-year-old guys moved in. Less than a week after they moved in, I just happened pass by the patio door and saw a "device" had been installed on our side of the fence, and it was pointed right at our living room window where we hang in the evenings. It looked like a light bulb with a camera in it. I walked over the fence check it and take a picture of it, and then I flipped it over the fence where it was hanging about halfway the ground.

got a bit riled up over this. She put on her mean - the that scares all of us - and marched her tiny little self over their house. She rang the doorbell times and waited. When the guy opened the door, she gave him the what-for. She told him to get it off the fence right now. When she was done, all he said was "okay." He immediately took it down.

Might I say he also named his wi-fi "FBI Surveillance Van," which is just juvenile. I guess he thought it was cool to do this in conjunction with putting his little device pointed at our window. I'm guessing he isn't too smart. He must have assumed we're non-techy old ladies. There's no way he could know I have a bachelors, masters, and doctorate in IT and can spot a spy cam from a mile away.

Welcome to the neighborhood.

There's no way I could do such a thing, maybe cams pointed at my house that I put there, but not intentionally point at my neighbors window, omg talk about trouble, that's creepy, I know what's it's like to have an ass live next door, but dang I'm glad you noticed.

Devices are recording us wherever we are. It is the day we live in.

Iā€™d broken the camera if it was clearly on your side of the fence. After taking a pic of it there first

If that does have a camera I would call the police. It is called stalking.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Good eye...
Now if it was me... and some woman living next to me?
I would have pretended I was clueless. Up until I'd ring her doorbell (popcorn in hand), to ask for the formal viewing.
You can stick a camera anywhere... these days. Ahhh... technology... Ya gotta love it. šŸ‘šŸ˜Ž

... is there another way to look at it.

If I was your neighbour I might want to look at you too.
I wouldn't spy on you. I might ask if I can borrow some sugar.

She's definitely a keeper! Also, my niece is a police officer and patrols our neighborhood.

You are right about that, and I don't usually mind it at all. There's just something different about the neighbor pointing a camera at you.

I took a picture of it, and then I dismantled it from the fence and dropped it into his yard.

You're right. I should have. I did tell four police officer friends and relatives about it...one who works for our city police department.

So true. I have several cameras around the house, but none of them are pointing directly at a neighbor's window. LOL!

I told my neighbor on the other side, and he's been watching the guy. I see him outside watching. He has a wife and two little ones, so he means business.

Seriously, that has to be illegal. But going forward, now it will ALWAYS be awkward. What an asshole.

It definitely will always be awkward. I'm just happy he's renting the house and isn't the owner. All our other neighbors are really great here.
