100% complete?

I think that like me first experiance with 100% was in school. Not that I often achieved 100% in anything but I learned that it meant all, every last one.
The I would guess it became part of a mathematical formula. 25%=1/4, 50%=1/2 and 10% again meaning all.
Now if we move the idea of a percentage to a task you may use it to set milestones as to when a task is half done or complete 100%

Now throughout my working life in construction related fields we often use percentage of completeness to justify our monthly bill as a project progressed. 100% was billed when we were complete and had no work left to do, when we would no longer be setting foot on the site, when we were 100% complete.

Definition of 100 percent

: completely, entirely I agree with her 100 percent.

That is according to Webster.

The came Microsoft to redefine 100%. In the earl days they were excused for saying a task was % complete and then the hour glass continued to flip over and over again while we sat there watching and wondering why they lied to us about the current state of completion of the current task.

Surely just a glitch? perhaps a wishful coder getting ahead of themselves? A company poly to make us think things are happening faster then we thought? A way to make us think it was our hardware that was slow and we headed to upgrade it?

As we advanced through the versions 3.1 and upward that one thing remained the same, staring at a screen that said 100% complete. Yet there we were staring at it for seconds, minutes, tens of minutes. If it is 100% complete why am I left staring?

It makes wonder if these geniuses that make all this work can't calculate how far along they are in a given task then are they really geniuses at all?

So now most of the world is up to version 10 and remember that is not just seven versions from 3 there were all the others like Vista, 98, 2000, and XP added in there.
Version 10 seems to have as many or more updates then any of them but yet there you sit staring at a screen that says 100% complete.

I know I shouldn't, I know I should just accept it because there must be a reason MS continues to do this. There must be right?

But really I have to,
I have to ask why?

There you go
That's all and none of it tragic.

As a procrastinator, you have given me a wonderful excuse....

"Yes. I am 100% Microsoft complete"

Sex is to Fun as Square is to Rectangle

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Too bad though we didn't have Microsoft brains and had our daily dose of updates everyday...then we could actually get to sit and have the computer stare at us for a change and wonder where the hell we get our updates from..bet there be some not so crazy people running around doing nothing work would get done ..but then there would only be places like this where our computers would create virtual worlds for themselves and cyber sex would be off the charts ...lol

One of the programmer's dad was a football coach who demanded that his team "give 110%".

Now we all wait in vain for the nonexistent extra 10% to appear.

Following my advice may cause injury, insanity, financial loss, hemorrhoids, death and superpowers

I have often been suprise the MS percent-O-meter doesn't go to 110% to get a jump on tomorrows update.
