leaf Blowers

Leaf Blowers
The purpose, the blowing of leaves some how conquerors some strange sex act that I have yet feel a need research.

But yet they seems so popular?

I have study people using them blow grass clippings, dust and even leaves from one place another. They use them it seems blow stuff from paved areas ?

This is want gets , where are they blowing stuff , the neighbours, the great depository for unwanted where litter and stuff chucked out off cars goes?

Ok so i need do my research.

The leaf blower is a $200 plus item. If you are like you are going forget clean the gas out of it and need mess with it or someone mess with it now and then.

so over five years
$200 machine
$100 repairs
$30 fuel and oil
Also add in the fact that running this 2 stroke 30 minutes a month will pollute more then your gas guzzling SUV does in a year and likely make your neighbours grind there teeth on the Sunday morning you decide use the thing

So you ask what is the alternative? How will i keep my driv way and sidewalks free of grass cutting and leaves? How will I annoy my neighbours while preforming these vital tasks.

I am glad you asked.

Buy a broom!
You can get a broom and a dust pan for under $20 and they last for years, require very little maintenance, make little no noise and do little environmental damage.

But wait, the broom has one really big advantage!!

You can sweep your crap into the dust pan and actually get rid of it with your yard waste. Better then blowing things around, I think.

Blowing a leaf? I guess if you are having fun why not.

There you go
That's all and none of it tragic.

Devil's advocate here (even though I agree with you) .... there are electric/battery operated leaf blowers. Not as loud, less impact on the environment. They put less stress on arthritic shoulders. (and lazy-ass folks) Instead of raking leaves, you can blow them into a pile and then bag into yard waste. Grass clippings on the driveway get blown back into your own lawn.

Of course, this is coming from the woman that used a manual push mower on her lawn. Every guy in the neighborhood would ask me if I wanted to borrow his power mower. When the 5 year old across the street asked if I wanted to 'bowwo his mowa' I upgraded to an electric one.

Sex is to Fun as Square is to Rectangle

I live in the country and no ones gonna buy that electric stuff out here. They all love the smell of two stroke exhaust. If you don't need hearing protect to run it then it can't have enough horse power.

Or so it seems.

Blow stuff into a pile you say. Never seen it out here or in town.
A pile so you could pick stuff up. They should put that idea in the instructions, ohhh wait that won't help.

The landscapers use blowers in our apartment complex. I want to hit him with a fire hose every time he uses it, as all he does is blows dirt and leaves onto my patio that I then have to sweep up.

All the best,

Not all leaf blowers only blow things around. Some suck. As in vacuum. You don't just blow leaves around your yard or into someone else's yard, you actually use the machine (either gas or electric) to pick them up. Oh, and it mulches them while it's picking them up. So you can either throw the mulch into the trash container or use it to mulch some of your plants, flower beds, etc.
Bonus: you still get to annoy the crap out of the neighbors with the noise.

Hmmmm....I know I left that wand around here somewhere!

Sucking leaf blowers. I use that phrase all the time only it starts with an "f".

The money energy and time that goes into these little plots of grass is crazy. We need all of these gadgets to have a little grass and a couple of trees?

I think we need to move away from the lovely English garden concept and except some thing a little more open to artistic interpenetration.

that sounded harsher then what it was meant to.

I use mine as much for blowing snow as I do for moving yard waste.

And as the lady reported, there are electric models. I bought the son-in-law a good Milwaukee unit that has mucho power, a lot more than he needs, and he can use the battery with his other Milwaukee tools.

snow? I just leave it be until mother nature cleans up her mess.
It is less of a problem here then many places.

I used to rake by hand and put them in bags for the garbage men to pick up instead of buying a leaf blower..Good post...

My mower has a grass catching attachment ; so no need to rake !!
As for leaves ; I just allow our Wyoming Wind to blow them away and use mulching mower too deal with the rest when I mow yard for hopefully last time of the year !!
Leaf blower for the times that I have up to 2 inches of powder snow and snow blower for other times !!!
