Having lived in DC, I am not sure I ever trust what comes out of the talking heads mouths and that thinking may extend beyond June 8.

I think they're different.
The stay at home order isn't necessarily an order for shops to close. They're independent. One tells us to go home, the other tells the stores to close down.

It is most assuredly not *your* English that is being challenged.

Rather, it is a lack of leadership at the National level that is crumbling our republic into a disjointed cluster of fiefdoms, each trying to address the Pandemic in its own garbled terms. The scant data that are collected are disseminated in myriad uncoordinated streams, with crucial guidance *lost in translation* as the messages are drowned in political spin.

With any luck, we will get through this by the end of 2020. Given the course we currently follow, it is unlikely to be any sooner.

June 8th is a long time, ours in Wisconsin is until May 26 although some establishments are giving the f--- you to the governor. For me, I've learned that I can do just fine on my own as long as my dog is around. I do worry about all my friends and everyone who has a small business though.

It looks like two conflicting statements; the first leaves no doubt--a command and the second says that there is a choice. Your English is just fine.

Lack of Leadership at the National level is the worst most of us have experienced, justaguy. The end of 2020 seems rather ideal yet we both know so much is predicated upon the biggie election in November, 2020

Yes + yes as a resident of the area as well as no reason to trust...

There is a distinct lack of leadership, planning, and willingness to analyze the data, make a decision and back it up. The data out there is so convoluted with noise. How many people normally die from heart attacks, strokes, pneumonia, etc. Now magically everything is covid. Why, it pays more. Why else, the use of information to shape public opinion and achieve personal wealth and gain. It makes me sick that our country has come to this. There are bright spots of sanity in the sea of muck so we must all hold our heads high and stand up for our rights, look at the facts, make your decision, and the consequences will be minimal. Keep on keeping on.

The upside? That's not English. It's poli-speak. It's what politicians use when they speak for 10 minutes and never answer the question.

They have to realize how angry ppl become when they refuse to reply

Sadly, they do. What they figured out is that ppl are less angry with a non-answer than with the answer.

We are mostly open. Plenty of vodka, lol, & food. Can never trust the two-faced talking heads.

It appears we fight our pandemics pretty much the same way we fight our wars, poorly at best! We sacrifice many for lack of planning, solid execution, and commitment to see it through all the way... So much for learning from history LOL!
