Some First Impressions... Can Scar You For Life๐Ÿ˜ฎโ—

My very first impression of the creature was woven into a sturdy memory, when I was a tiny tyke of 5. Young enough to learn a lesson and old enough to never forget.

The cute furry thing nestled up to me clambered into my lap and began to purr. I petted that black ball of hair, and it purred even louder. I did what I thought was best and stroked harder; it hissed. I decided to lean into those long white whiskers and assure it that I was a friend. And BAM- therein bloomed that first indelible memory.

It was surgically etched into my cheek, narrowly missing my eye.

I barely recall the burning pain or my mother screaming as I walked into the kitchen. But I clearly remember all the blood. Damn, there was a lot of it dripping everywhere.

By the time my age and wisdom had doubled, I'd overcome my angst and had grown a thicker skin. Most importantly, I had acquired the technique on how to hold those felines - under their front shoulders - without fear of those nasty razors they brandished. Or so I thought.

On the day that shaggy stray tiptoed into my backyard, I hoped it might be friendly. It was, for a while. Arching its back while brushing against my legs, it gave me all the signs that it liked me - until it didn't and derisively spit. I determined (along with my buddies) that the best place for that critter - was in my neighbour's swimming pool.

"Do they swim?" was the question we posed.

Off we trudged across the street to that blue expanse of chlorinated water. As I dangled that placid furball over the deep end, that beast suddenly realized the predicament it was in. It's hind legs violently slashed, and in a flash, the veins in my arms poured out deep red blood.

Oh, and they DO swim.

Fast-forward to my teens and a New Year's Eve party at a friend's home. I never knew he harboured one. It was a surprise to me that if you have a severe allergy, a near-death asthma attack is the most convincing proof. It was the worst New Year I'd ever spend. You think these encounters were over? Not yet.

Years later, I met a woman who became my fiancee and my wife. You guessed it - she owned one. I was in love and thought I'd learn to adapt and compromise. Instead, I endured years of sneezing grief, and hairball hell.

Cats and I have braved a long savage history, lavishly illustrated with gushing plasma! These days I ignore them. Yet, I find it ironic that a frequent foe shares its name with that warm, wet and exciting variety I invariably seek.

That species - if you get close enough - is always friendly and playful. And I've never met a pussy that's ever scratched me.

Have you?

Oh come on, don't vilify me. I'm sure there are vermin on your list of verboten critters that you just don't care for? ๐Ÿ˜ถ

Or am I the only person, who can TOTALLY ignore a cute cat? ๐Ÿค”

My brother owns two cats. For years I'd only visit him while hanging outdoors. It made winter time a chilly bitch to endure - while sharing a beer with my bro.
Then he installed one of those super hi-tech air filters and we went indoors.
That's when I noticed he'd bought a wide screen TV. โ—๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿท๐Ÿท

I'm not a cat person myself, no allergies, and have a owned a few over the years, but I just don't relate to them the way I do canines.

I discovered I was allergic after a coworker pressured me to take a cat in need of adoption. The allergies came on gradually (probably as the cat dander gradually built up in my upholstered furniture). Finally I had an asthma attack that landed me in the ER for a shot of adrenaline. Fun times.

Poor Flannel went to the Humane Society not too long after that.

Funny that you should blog about this with one having pets and the other having allergies to them...My original afternoon post was this subject originally..How it may actually affect sex and other things when you FWB, spouse or others in your personal life, yet others just do not think about it at all ......

Sitting poolside one night I saw a neighbor pick up a cat by the hind legs and fling it in the air. The cat went limp, like cats do when airborne, end over end and landed in the pool. They are very good swimmers.

I'm a dog person as well.
It's a myth that all women love pussies . ๐Ÿค”

I can relate to the asthma attack. THAT'S not fun.
I ripped up all the carpets in my home and put in hardwood floors. It helped but the vacuum was my best friend. ๐Ÿท ๐Ÿท ๐Ÿ˜Ž โ—
I could always tell - walking into someone's house - if they owned a cat. It was never fun having to hang around in the person's home.

I changed the carpets in my home and put in hardwood floors. It helped but it wasn't perfect.
It was a pain... to say the least Summer was ok. Winter with closed windows? Not so much.

Unless you're allergic to cats, ya don't know how uncomfortable they are.
I've never had an allergic reaction to a pussy.
Thank goodness! ๐Ÿ‘

Yep.. I wasn't sure how this post was going to go.
Or if it would provoke more 'cat throwing' anecdotes. Lol ๐Ÿ˜‚
Ooops...
Or stories about one's favorite pussy. โ—๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿค”

I adore cute kitties. At a distance. Their claws are indeed razor sharp. And their teeth are good for destroying human flesh.
I have a cat. In the barn. I will keep kitties outdoors for their murderous attitudes. I cannot keep one in the house as my hubby and boys are allergic.

True... kitties ARE cute from a distance.
Sounds like they suffer from the same cat allergy as me.
As long as men aren't allergic to that all important pussy that counts.
Can you imagine? ๐Ÿค” OMG... โ—๐Ÿ˜ถ

I have always been a dog person. My Dad brought home our first dog when I was only 6 months old. Despite later finding out I was allergic to animal hair, cigarette smoke and a bunch of other things, the dog stayed and both my parents continued to smoke. Times certainly were different back then.

Stimulate my mind and letโ€™s see what happens ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Wow! They certainly were. Not to mention - no seatbelts in cars. OMG. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
Do you have a dog now? ๐Ÿค”

I had tropical fish... once.
I wasn't allergic to any of them. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I had a cat once and she did not like getting a bath and my arms were all scathed up. I love both dogs and cats

The Light is shinning and she is lonely and waiting in the darkness.

If cats didn't make me sneeze so much and if they weren't so aloof... lol ๐Ÿ˜‚... I'd probably like them more.
I love dogs though! ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm a dog person as well. If I wasn't sneezing so much around cats?
Hmmm...
I'd STILL be a dog person.
