Your brain believes what you tell it. Tell it good things.

When someone attaches a label to you, think hard about it before you file it. If it's an incorrect label don't let it get into the file drawer.

That's truly an understatement. I have self-labeled too often, and it's hard to pull yourself out of that rubble once it's settled all over you.

Good post, thanks for sharing.

Concur. As humans, we are wont to reduce to simplest terms. Hence we apply labels. Once affixed, labels are stubbornly resistant to revision, despite personal growth and development. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote "there are no second acts in American life." So we are classified, marginalized and dismissed for our past transgressions.

In the *old* life-model, we pulled up stakes, migrated west and reinvented ourselves in a new community. Now, our digital ripples (no longer mere *fingerprints*) persist for what is essentially an eternity; we are judged and re-judged, wherever we find ourselves.

Happily, I find Gen Z's less preoccupied with the past and more forward-thinking in their judgments. Hopefully they will inspire the rest of us to follow suit.

Thanks for your well-thought-out reply justaguyinalaska. I found it fascinating on many levels. It gave me some ideas for topics to read more about while shut in for at least the next couple of weeks. By the way, I enjoy your writing style.

You can file another drawer with positives. I'll message you with a blog that I read from a man that is very insightful about the brain and the impact our subconscious has on our conscious lives and vice versa.

We have the power to change our own outlook. It is that simple once you have the tools and understand how to use them.
