Happy to have been born poor

I am so happy I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth! I was not living on the streets but we were a middle class family. Tonight I picked up a lady and two men, the whole way to their destination the lady complained about EVERYTHING, wrong choice for a street (construction or cars stopped in a lane and a couple of cars backed up), wrong corner (too many cars or a bus stopped), too many pedestrians. Even though she complained about everything she chatted with the guys she was riding with about lecture from the Dalai Lama about how to be more compassionate to others, more wisdom and patience. Yep, she learned a lot from that lecture.

The very next guy I picked up had a very bad night with customers as well. It was great to chat with him about them. He said, he knew the lady I was told him about, she is mean and rude to the wait staff but often is heard telling her friends how she is enlightened and doesn’t stoop to mean things. He said he was happy that others knew the way he felt. He also said he thought everyone should have to be a waiter/waitress for at least a year and learn what happens. I agreed with him but I said maybe any kind of service industry and have to live off that income. People would treat service industry people better. Any jobs like waiters/waitress, cashiers, nurses, janitors, delivery people, bus drivers and so many, many more jobs should be given the respect they are due.

That being said, some people in those industries (mostly very young) who need to learn that the customer is also a human being. Hellos, thank yous and your welcome really go a long, long way!

Okay, I have a headache tonight and need to go to bed soon. Thank you very much for reading my blog and I love you!

It is , or seems to be so simple, treat everyone with courtesy when ever possible. Maybe it is the "me generation"?

I would normally agree that most of the "me generation" are not as courteousness as other generations but I don't always think that is the case. I think it is more of how you grew up. If you grew up being told you are better than everyone else then you treat people "beneath" you as being lesser than you. If you grew up not knowing there was a difference you treat everyone equal. There are varying degrees of this as always. We are all human.

Nurses are angels and deserve a lot more respect for such a demanding job.
