Is AFF becoming extinct?

Face it it is a dinosaur looks like it was from the original internet in design and archaic software. It's user base skews old they made massive changes to make free accounts not worth a bother for most. They cannot attract any of the coveted 18-36 demographic that advertisers and networks want. They need people, they need people to stick around, and be active, but they claim millions of members when maybe being generous 5% of the accounts are active. So do you believe its days are number being shuttered with a year or two?
Yes
No

Yes
No
Who cares? 🤔
It's a lot of fun if you know how to manage this maze. I've been Gold and then not.
It's fun, both ways. Ya learn how to trudge about. Works for me.

It's not as bad as people gripe about.
But with all due respect. Ain't no way, 18 to 36 year olds, would be attracted to this site. There is the real world? No? That's where I was at that age. I still am.
Heck.. this place is a pasture. Ya know what I mean? 🤔
It'll survive... or it won't. I'd say have fun while it's around. What do you think?

... is there another way to look at it...

I can’t say I know better..only been here a short while myself. Although I have noticed a change in the amount of real here....it’s minimal...
It’s not hard to be a standard member and communicate with others here..
I had to laugh though....I was pretty naive at first with the 20ish year olds flirting with me at first

the site is what the people make it
but if you as you say "18-36 demographic that advertisers and networks want."
then they would have to work out something with uber. it seems the 18-36 year olds seem to want it, and want it now
delivered to them with not fuss
removed when done
ubersex anyone?

if you beat it... it will flatten

There is only so much demand for dildos and other porn paraphernalia so AdultFriendFinder can't rely on ads to survive. Nike, Coke, Budweiser and other big companies aren't known to advertise in porn sites. But yeah, AdultFriendFinder is swirling down the bowl. They have already declared bankruptcy once and this time their service is much worse. I would be hesitant to plop down money for an annual subscription and risk losing the money if they go belly up.

If they got better IT folks and got this back up and running without all the glitches that have gone on since May- maybe it would have a chance. However, no one is going to pay for a broken toy. I just decided to enjoy what I can work around and when it dies- well I wont be going to the ceremony

Too many site issues for people to upgrade to gold. Lack of active members that fit their search criteria to make it worthwhile upgrading to gold.

I remember when there were >200 people in the chat room at one time. Now there's 20 on a good day.

There used to be 100 people in the Alberta chat room at the same time. Now there might be none or a few. I agree the days are numbered. Something else has to come along first though. Somthing similar to what this site could have been now.

I still don't understand why people post these types of questions, especially here in the blogs or A/L. This like the band playing on as the Titanic sank. So, you just sit and suffer on a ship you know (read: think) is sinking, and looking for others to commiserate with you?

Difference here, though, is that there are other 'ships'. Therefore, if you think the site is *that* bad, what motivates you to stay (OP and respondents who agree)? Or...better question, what potential solutions/feedback have you suggested to the site (I know Miss Poco has done this, but who else)? Honestly asking these questions.

What I also find interesting is that, if you look at older posts from YEARS ago, people have alleged the site is going out of business for over ten years. That's some 'life support' for your ass, lol.

My suggestions would not be heeded as they were shortsighted enough to make the changes to begin with. They need lots of standard members and everything they do is to drive them away. More people means they can charge more for advertisements as well as get more gold members.

First gold membership needs to automatically have full power of being able to contact standards without paying extra. Standards have to have some means to want to stay here. They need to make the site more functional and modernize the web design to be attractive. Yes this will cost $$$ but is needed. Younger people are used to free things especially social media and that is their competition. They make it on selling data and adverts and so they must. They have to have many actual real people that want to meet and interact with others.

I have contacted customer service about "glitches" in the system. Standard answer is "we are working on it". The only change I have noticed is the price keeps going up, but the problems remain.

Advertisers? They're in our homes and cars and everywhere we go today.
They(18-36) were once touted as the hook up generation. Who could have known It just wasn't going to be with those of their own generation or at least until they learned how to fill those shoes.

I remember when people were cool to one another and entitlement was shared
with the top .09% of both genders and when the chat rooms weren't bully training centers .When those who had no reason to hide never put anyone on the spot for having to ghost them. There are so many in step with your forlorn ,dejected and impoverished existence here that sometimes this incessant whining is really just kicking a gift horse in whatever orifice suits them.

Using more than all the road!

This site used to have waaaay many more members varying in age. It was fun when you didn't have to have points to talk to people or view cams. Now i dont see any point in sticking around to be honest.

Okay, regarding your reply on 10/24/2019 6:05 pm...
My suggestions would not be heeded as they were shortsighted enough to make the changes to begin with.
-When did you offer your suggestions to the site?

They need lots of standard members and everything they do is to drive them away.
-In what way does a business *need* more people who do not pay?
Let's say you open a supermarket. Like most markets, you offer 'free' samples of the products you sell. Let's also say that more people visit on 'sample day' only to try the samples than do people who spend money in your store on a regular basis. How profitable do you think your business would be, and how long do you think you'd remain in business?

More people means they can charge more for advertisements as well as get more gold members.
-Sure, they could charge more, but that doesn't mean advertisers will pay. Advertisers also have a choice where they spend their money. Plus, let's remember that they're actually very limited in the type of advertising they can have. We're not talking about sites like BookFace, Tweeter, or wherever where everyday advertisers and businesses *want* to associate with them. P&G is not going to advertise their lines of dishwashing liquid here; Disny isn't going to market their family vacation packages...I could go on.

First gold membership needs to automatically have full power of being able to contact standards without paying extra.
-They already have that 'power'. What you're actually talking about is the standard members' ability to see the gold members' profiles and/or initiate contact. While we're on that topic, I think the 'standard members can contact' package will soon go away.

They need to make the site more functional and modernize the web design to be attractive. Yes this will cost $$$ but is needed.
-I agree with the first point, the site does many things 'wrong' and needs improving. However, I question how people expect the site to afford improvements and maintenance when they have more members who don't pay/refuse to pay than do members who pay. Where do get that money? What would you suggest (to the site)?

Younger people are used to free things especially social media and that is their competition.
-So...I'll ask for a third time...what motivates you (and younger people like you) to remain here, a site that doesn't meet your needs? If other sites are 'better', what prohibits you from using those sites and ditching *this* site?

And...just so you understand...I don't necessarily disagree that there is lot on this site that doesn't work. I'm not arguing just to argue...I consider this a constructive discussion. What I think also does NOT work is complaining about the site to people who have no operational input or impact. The complaining just to complain doesn't solve the problem...any problem...and only serves as confirmation bias to the masses.

@ BiggLala

1. As I said they would not listen to a standard member's unsolicited advice on changes I think they need to make.

2. They claim millions of members, it is a social site, and there should be lots of people and activity. People will not feel a need to join if the view it as a dead place. See you need to have bait to attract people and maybe some of them will pay. If there were lots of people getting action here they would tell their friends or mention it else where on actual social media etc thereby making the site more popular. It also leads into the next point I had about more $$ from advertisers.

3. Advertisers know their real numbers not the "cooked books millions" they advertise. If they actually had millions of people things like travel companies, or rental cars. As it is I think Depends should give it a shot as the membership skews towards seniors here. How about gambling and bingo parlors lol. Instead of listing who wouldn't there are still lots that might if they actually had the numbers and were a popular site. But what do I know I'm just a standard peon member. As I said they can sell demographics info to legit companies of they had actual numbers to boast about. Survey companies might try their hand etc it opens more options.

4. Well my fault in not stating it clearly in what I meant that it should work both ways. The recipient should be able to read and respond to the gold member that sent them a message. Maybe they can put a cap on it 10 back and forth messages.

5. They have to make some money after all they do get some from memberships, some for advertising, and their cut of cams. To make money you have to spend money. Get more investors or a loan if able based on their legit numbers etc.

6. I still get contacts but 99% are bots/scammers. There still exists a possibility that I can meet someone that meets my criteria. For myself FB gathers too much info is invasive.

Please, quit whining and being so narcissic! There are many other adult dating sites out there ( I get many ads for them.) If AdultFriendFinder does not suit your needs or desires so what? You probably do not need AdultFriendFinder to find a spouse or sex partner. People solved that challenge for thousands of centuries without the internet or websites. Queen Victoria needed only genuine, real people to find Prince Albert in Coburg in Saxony, far from London.

I do not know what AdultFriendFinder's business model is to make money. Advertising is probably part of it. There is tremendous competition for advertising dollars today. Whether AdultFriendFinder will make it through remains to be seen. I doubt that AdultFriendFinder thinks Gold memberships will make it another Facebook. Forget about sex contact sites. Much more serious is whether newspapers survive the drop in income from advertising dollars. Without them , this county will become a dictatorship. I think we are on the way..

Superman4695 replies on 10/28/2019 7:04 pm:
Only a complete moron would make a vastly incorrect diagnosis of narcissism from what I wrote. In fact no legit psychologist would even attempt without in depth interviews and testing of an individual to construct a profile. It fails completely as an insult. I could list the DSM characteristics if you'd like.

You're right I don't need the site as I have success in real life. However, you never know where you will find someone and it doesn't hurt to keep an eye out. I tried some other sites one that rhymes with zing had almost nothing but bots. Get contacts from women and they never reply back and they sent you a message not cold calling lol.

I fail to connect the logic of your last statement as if newspapers are failing due to lack of readership how they have little power to do anything. They tried to make Hillary president and failed along with all tv media with few exceptions. There will still be the internet, television media and you know the laws and Constitution. A dictatorship no not going to happen though I'd say if the Democrats ever get a full slate as in President and complete control (67 of the House and Senate again their move towards socialism will sure feel like one.

I don't like AdultFriendFinder one bit. I've had better luck from many others. The internet should be free. Just as if your date had a booger hanger, Huge turnoff that every button pushed leads to the pay a fee page. And not just one fee if u want results. Chaturbate xhapster thesexaddicts dot com all work better and more entertaining than this AdultFriendFinder POS! YEA. FU AdultFriendFinder! U SUCK!

Yes its going extinct!! And on top of that they are implementing all these avenues to make members pay. I remember the days when this site used to get tons of traffic and chatting in the im was free as well as responding to gold members messages was free!!. Now you cant respond to gold members as a regular member and you can chat for free you have to use points

Its getting ridiculous and the amount of fake profiles is horrendous as well. The other day i though i was speaking to a real couple but i wasnt. You know why? Because after i stopped talking to this couple another couple profile messaged me. Weird asf. Not only that i gave my contact info and not a single message

Their marketing team must be bad or the market for dating sites is just off nowadays because for the most part women are just wasting our time. Last week i was supposed to meet a woman and wasted 3+ hours waiting for the address away from home

This woman is no longer active on the site and begs to question real or not but i did meet some really good women and was in a casual relationship with one older woman from here

I don't think it'll ever go under because there's money involved. It'll just linger on with less and less people.what I've noticed is they close the bandwidth they probably shut down a few servers. Mainly during the day time Monday through Friday. I've just noticed they play with the bandwidth. Sometimes I'm just not seen and I know others are feeling the same. Yeah their money is getting less and less so they're just figuring out ways to save it. Part of it is due to all the Android and iPhone dating sites.
