August 17: Wear Pink and Take A Stand Against Bullying!!

Bullying comes in all forms, shapes, and sizes and I was a victim of it when I was in elementary school, junior high, and high school. Being the smallest in my class til I was 15, and a nerd to boot, made me a prime target for bullies. Small though I was, I was gifted athletically and could outrun my age and those a few years younger .... or as I said, "I can run faster scared than you can mad." Playing sports gave me an outlet and helped to give me confidence - confidence to stand up for myself [hard to do], and stand up for others [which I always found much easier].

Bullies try to bring you down to make themselves feel better. When directed at me, I usually fight back with humour and sarcasm, depending on the situation. A lot of male bullies like to attempt to bully in front of an audience, in an attempt to embarrass their target so they can make a show of exerting their dominance over their target.

Wearing a pink tie provides a perfect opportunity for a bully to attempt to belittle you, to which I respond - "It takes a real man to wear a pink tie ....... guess you never will," which usually makes the crowd laugh. Another option is to agree with him using some self-deprecating humour, which disarms him as there is no conflict, something they feed off of. The bully will never realize that many women love seeing a man wear pink.

The bully will never realize what he is missing out on

and I'm not about to tell him.

I say let him figure it out for himself but it would probably just confuse him.

The fight against bullying is close to my heart.

Everyone needs a helping hand[s] sometime

And those that don't think bullying is a problem can kiss my ass.

Cause even if your hands are tied,

good things can come about if you persevere.

Stand up against bullying.

member activity today I cam across a comment a man made on a fellow bloggers status - "...and, perhaps you need to be choosy about your "wants"....". Although I have never met this blogger in person, this comment annoyed me as I was fairly certain this man had not met her either. If he had he would not have made this kind of comment on her status. I don't know his motivation behind his comment but it struck me as a prime example of

I wonder how he would react to a woman telling him the same thing ....

Probably not ..... but I can dream.

Yes, I am conscious that I am sitting behind my computer screen commenting on what I saw, but I am not singling any one person out for a lecture/unsolicited advice. It's more of a commentary on how our society has progressed[???] ..... regressed??

It's not to much to hold out for what you want. Why settle for less?

Because why settle for Twilight when you can have

or

[apologies to all Twilight fans out there]

can be inspired by many things and this morning one of my dreams shed a little light on how aware our body is while we are sleeping.

I was in a mess tent talking to Hawkeye, Margaret, Col. Potter, Frank, BJ, and Klinger,

and I was lecturing Frank on how bad a doctor he was and how his advice wasn't needed. Seems there was a soldier who was dying and the staff were trying to prolong his life and then I woke up.

The dream seemed so real and when I rolled over, the TV was still on [forgot to put it on sleep mode] and MASH was on and it was the episode where they were trying to prolong a soldier's life so he wouldn't pass away on Christmas Day.

I wasn't one of the characters from the show, I was actually in the show as me. Goes to show how much we are aware of even when asleep.

Does make me think about how much our dreams are affected by our environment,

and if our erotic dreams are occasionally motivated by those around us, in other rooms/apartments.

and If some of them are

Certainly helps you wake up with a smile

come and birthdays go. That they come is a good thing as the alternative sucks!

I usually escape to another city for mine and stay for a couple of days.

This one took me to Halifax, which has become my favourite getaway place. It's only 3.5 hours away and brings me back to the ocean.

Check into my hotel of choice and then enjoy wandering around the city, knowing the chance of running into someone I know is remote. And at the same time, wondering if the woman walking towards me in on the site and whether she has looked at my profile or I her's.

Lay on a wonderfully comfortable king sized bed and sleep in as long as I want ...... even if I did wake up at 6:30am and just vegged lol

send a teaser out to a few friends,

and make a short roadtrip to another community to fulfill a personal promise.

And spend the day making people laugh/smile ..... even if they threaten to spank you for it ..... like that would be a bad thing lol

is in full swing here and while the recent temperatures have been deliciously hot, today's rain has felt wonderful. I was lucky enough to be out when it started and I revelled in it.

With the humidex hitting 37C today [97F], the rain felt awesome, cooling and refreshing at the same time.

I know there are people out there that don't like the rain,

but haven't you ever wanted to just

go for a walk in the rain. Or

The way your clothes cling to you, or them.

Brings a smile to your face, doesn't it?

In the chat rooms I get to see a lot of weird and wonderful things but an unfortunate constant is the behaviour of a lot of men. They dispense with any form of courtesy and expect people to fall all over them and then get upset when they are called on their behaviour.

Then there are the men that put down other men in a moronic display of Alpha Male chest beating, hoping women will look more favourably on them when they do.

When most are thinking

And while I fully realize there is next to zero chance any would read this, I thought I would share this article I found, slightly edited and added to by me.

21 Lost Gentleman Traditions That Still Apply Today [maybe not lost, just misplaced]

1. He stands when she walks in the room: In the old days, men stood when a lady, dignitary, or elderly person walked in the room. It was a sign of respect. Standing shows you are attentive and you care.

2. He walks by her on the outside, closest to the street: Why is the top coat symbolic of the gentleman? Before our drainage systems, a man stood on the outside of the sidewalk in a long coat to protect her from the dust and sewage that could splash up as carriages passed by.

3. He opens the door for her: The modern gentleman helps her in and out of the car to stand in the way of creepy gawkers. Opening a door for her is not a sign she is weak, but a gesture of affection. And I will add that holding a door for anyone is a show of respect and courtesy, no matter who you are holding the door for.

4. He never criticizes a home-made meal: An out-loud criticism of a meal as a guest was considered disrespectful to the host. If anyone takes the time and effort to make a dinner, they are your host. Honor them. Smile and chew.

5. He doesn’t LOL for the sake of attention: a gentleman doesn’t have to be loud to command attention. He commands attention through his strong character.

6. He pulls out her chair: It was common for the gentleman to pull out her chair and allow her to face the open room. Then you can lightly run your hand across her shoulder to let her know you want her.

7. He sits after she sits: “…and at the table wait until she is seated, indeed wait until every lady is seated, before taking your own place” The Gentlemen’s Book of Etiquette, and Manual of Politeness (1860).

8. He helps her put on/take off her coat: Up through the Edwardian period, women wore multiple layers, and beneath them a restricting corset. A gentleman would help his lady put on and take off her coat because of her restricted movement. Corsets are not common today, but many women still enjoy the help of a gentleman. …….. to remove her clothes

9. He doesn’t walk ahead of her: Because ladies wore long dresses and could trip on them, the gentleman walked behind her when climbing a staircase. Tumbling down a flight of stairs isn’t a good way to end a date. Today, the gentleman follows this etiquette rule because she might be wearing long heels or a long dress. This is another sign of him protecting her. However, she may want him to walk up stairs first if she’s wearing a short skirt.

10. He gives up his seat to her if there is only standing room: A gentleman offers his seat to a lady if there are no other seats on the bus/train. I’m talking to you…the dude who wouldn’t give his seat up to the pregnant lady.

11. He carries her bags: A gentleman will help her carry her bags today, and when flying, will assist others in putting their luggage in the overhead compartments. I’ll amend this to offering to help carry bags. Women are not the weaker sex by far. Being raised by a widowed mum taught me how strong women really are and how lost we men would be without them.

12. He picks up the check: An English gentleman never split the meal with his date. The English used the term “go dutch” in “derisive application,” as they stereotyped the Dutch as being cheap, or “stingy.” Today, the gentleman generally picks up the tab, especially on the first date, and with no expectations. But at the same time, you have to respect the wishes of the woman as well. If she insists on paying her share, you should respect her wishes. There’s that respect word again ….hmmmmmmm

13. He holds an umbrella over her when it rains: It was common for a younger person to hold an umbrella for an older person. When it rains, the gentleman holds an umbrella over her and doesn’t mind getting a little wet. Here’s a tip, get a golf umbrella, you can fit more people under it.

14. He gives her his jacket: A gentleman pays attention, and if he notices her shivering, he gives her his jacket to wear.

15. He keeps her secrets: A gentleman will always keep a secret, especially the one entrusted to him by the woman of his dreams. Should a break-up happen, the gentleman can still be trusted.

16. He walks her home or to safety: A true gentleman will walk her to her car or home to this day because he’s concerned for her safety. Once again, in today’s world, offer to walk her there but respect her wishes if she declines your offer.

17. He listens to her: “To be a good listener is as indispensable as to be a good talker…” The Gentlemen’s Book of Etiquette, and Manual of Politeness (1860). A gentleman always listens because he wants to deeply get to know her. Common sense but too many ignore it.

18. He’s on time: A gentleman is his word. Traffic is not an excuse for being late to a date. A good man plans in advance. If she is worth your time, she is worth you making sure you don’t keep her waiting.

19. He compliments her: She spent a lot of time getting ready, so a gentleman always compliments. He doesn’t play on her insecurities. And I will add, your compliments should be genuine as she will see through any that are not.

20. He would never dream of hitting ANY woman: “…the greatest man would justly be reckoned a brute if he were not civil to the meanest woman” Martine’s Handbook (1866). The same rules apply today. It doesn’t matter if you are Chris Brown or Ray Rice, a gentleman finds no excuse to hit a woman…no matter what.

21. He asks her father for her hand in marriage: In Victorian days, a gentleman would have to show his coat of arms, or his credentials to her father to show he was a worthy man for marriage. The 21st century gentleman asks her father for his blessing because it’s respectful and courteous. Can’t say I agree with this one but that’s just me.

Chances of those needing this actually reading this

But to remain silent invites more of it

to the car radio today while driving around the city, listening to the American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest,

guest host was Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic. He was talking about Beyonce and trying to explain what it was like to work with her.

He decided to use a certain word [which sadly escapes me] but it was definitely not the correct word to describe her talent. He meant to imply that she has a certain presence about her while she is in a room and the word he used, while impressive, did not fit the situation.

I am a big fan of word play and intelligence but when people attempt to use big words and get them wrong, I have to restrain my PHD.

Which prompted me to look up the definition of said act when I came home - catachresis - the use of a word in a way that is not correct. I had heard the word before but never took the time to look up what it meant.

When people type "my pants are lose" instead of loose, or "my favourite team is loosing the game", misuse there, their, and they're, and to and too, I shake my head and usually chuckle.

Is it an indictment of our educational system or of our society that has seemed to have stopped placing an importance on spelling and sentence structure? Not really, as there are a lot of you out there that excel at both, but it's [oh yeah, its and it's too] the wordsmiths, or should I say, the non-wordsmiths, that jump out at you and make you wince.

Our local chat room is blessed [???] by one such scholar that surpasses the norm. Liek for like, coffee no longer ends in ee, are among his favourites and he couples it with savage, although juvenile, attacks on anyone who points any error out to him. Luckily there is always the

for people like him, but he does poison the atmosphere in the room. Have you ever come across someone like that in your chat room travels? Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to ban them from a room for their conduct? And yes, I am dreaming considering the platform.

home after attending a campout Saturday night I definitely have to thank

for getting me home. It was late [or early in the morning depending on your point of view] and I was getting drowsy, to the point I was considering pulling over and napping. But then

came on and I started singing along at the top of my lungs.

I really love this song and always sing along, this time it also gave me the energy boost I needed to get home so instead of this,

it was more like this,

... and yes, I do drum along too

Next campout I will stay and sleep in my tent .... barring a monsoon,

because if it is going to be wet in my tent, it better be a good wet.

Hope everyone had a fun weekend

may not be twins but we do share the same birthday weekend.

Granted you are quite a lot older than us [what's 91 years between friends after all?] but you wear it well.

And we do have things that make each of us unique

Ketchup chips anyone??
Double double?
Timbit?
Poutine?

And we both have great senses of humour and we do tend to make fun of ourselves,

but we never pass up the chance to poke fun at our cousins,

but when it comes right down to it, no matter how much fun we make of you, we couldn't ask for better neighbours ..... that's neighbors btw

Happy 4th of July to all of you

my account does get permanently deleted, as they are threatening to do, I just want to take the time to thank everyone I have come to view as friends, through blogs, meets, and parties. It seems that the powers that be are annoyed with me and sent me this message --

Dear Member,

Thank you for being a member of our site.

It has been brought to our attention that there was no person within your webcam broadcast, which is a direct violation of our webcam rules.

This is your official 1st warning. The next step will be to
continue to revoke usage of the webcam depending on the severity of the offense.

Note: The following are our Webcam Rules - Here's what NOT to do, and
what will be grounds for a ban:

- LIVE, PERSONAL broadcasts only. No commercial or professional
content, public figures and/or celebrities. No pre-recorded material

- Person(s) appearing in the broadcast must match the gender stated
in the profile. Person(s) must appear on screen, no blank screens.

- No solicitations or other advertising websites or other commercial
services.

- The broadcast must not otherwise violate our Terms of Use.

Multiple violations will result in deletion of accounts and any other
accounts connected to this member. Previous violations will result in
future violations treated more swiftly and severely.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us
again.

Thank you.

Now I replied to this email twice without getting an answer. So I sent in a ticket ..... again, no reply. So I called the support line as my webcam was being blocked and if you notice, they didn't actually tell me it was being blocked, although this line - The next step will be to continue to revoke usage of the webcam -- implies as much but doesn't say for how long or if at all. They said they would call me back ....... they didn't. Anyways, it was blocked for 3 days and then I was able to broadcast yesterday. This morning I received another email from the powers that be ........ in Chinese ....

Google translate to the rescue!!!

Dear cwazywabbit009,

We regret to inform you that your video violates our three days because of the use of the rules play is terminated

Once your account is unblocked , you will be able to re- exercise the rights of the original , and you can play your video to other members. However, the continuing violations of AdultFriendFinder terms of use will result in your membership status is permanently terminated.

I sincerely wish you ,
AdultFriendFinder team

So I replied to this one too and it only clouded the waters more. Now I fully expect them to block or delete this post but for those of you who read it, at least you will know the reason behind my disappearance, if and when it happens.

Here are my first two replies to their first message/threat

It was with more than a little surprise that I received your message which I can only assume was a result of a complaint received from someone else. "This is your official 1st warning. The next step will be to continue to revoke usage of the webcam depending on the severity of the offense." is, to me, more than a little heavy handed considering the loyalty and support I have shown to your site these past years. To start of with "your first official warning" implies that there was a previous warning, when there was not. And then to say it would be followed by "the next step will be to continue to revoke usage of the webcam" comes across even more heavy handed and carries the implied threat ..... once again, to a loyal and supportive PAYING member, and it seems by the changes that you have made to your site in the past months, paying members are something you are trying to cultivate, not alienate. As I have received nothing but positive messages from people that look at my cam, whether I am there or not, generating good will for your site I might add, I wonder if the complaint came from someone I blocked from viewing my cam due to their actions. Maybe you could check to see if the person who complained is also on my blocked list .....? In closing, when dealing with a loyal paying member, maybe a little restraint could be used instead of bringing out the big stick and making threats the first time you contact them concerning a perceived problem..
Thank you for your time.

and

Further to your message, does this - "The next step will be to continue to revoke usage of the webcam" mean that my webcam usage HAS BEEN revoked? As my webcam is not able to broadcast the last 24 hours, I assume that is the case. Is there a reason that I was not informed in a less obtuse manner? And, once again, isn't this a little drastic for a first warning??

At least they thanked me for being a member of their site

And if this is the end, thank you for everything my friends

and I don't even like candy canes
