Such a long long time to be gone, and a short time to be there—Robert Hunter/Phil Lesh

Today is difficult. It always will be. With the exception of family and friends who became family, I cried til I didn’t think I could anymore. Such a wonder, hard, beautiful, and sometimes ugly time… but there was magic. There was love of the music , laughing at lyrics missed, and that last night in Chicago… knowing in our hearts the end was coming.
But not how it ended. A month after you stepped off that stage in a van as fireworks and vendors custies and cops having that last night rage… you sought the help that everyone from inner circle to the fresh bright-eyed just starting knew you needed, you went off.. and we realized how much you meant, how the right song would play and questions were answered, how spinning in unison with the planet you could sometimes touch the hand of G-D RIP.❤️‍🩹

Ripple- Robert Hunter/ Jerry Garci

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music
Would you hold it near as it were your own?

It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air

Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow
Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of men

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone

You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home

I was never a fan of the Grateful Dead; however, the lyrics were beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.

And what a long, strange (but wonderful) trip it's been!
