All I Want for Christmas

I was sitting here, looking through the open door at the twinkling tree lights in the next room, and the open fire flickering in the fireplace, thinking about what to write this Christmas. I found myself thinking about what Christmas means to other people. It is a chance to be with friends and family, for gifts and good food, or a religious festival, or a time for wild parties and celebration, For some it is a commercial opportunity, but for others that is just the thing they hate about it.

But whatever your individual view of Christmas, I think for nearly everyone it is a time when our memories of perfect seasons from the past mingle with hopes and fears for the future. It can be an uplifting feeling, shared with loved ones, or a bleak and lonely time if there seems to be no hope, or for the recently bereaved.

I saw a silly B movie on the TV the other day, (I love Christmas films, ) and it reminded me that however you feel, happy or sad, you can never know what might be just around the corner, or what will happen to you, good or bad, tomorrow. And to me that is what Christmas is really all about. It is a time for hope. A time to remember that it is worth making the best of what you have got, however little. Or if you have a lot, to use it, and not to just drift through life. To make the most of every minute, because even if this minute isn't your last, it is one of only a finite number, and you don't want to be looking back at a life where you even let special days like Christmas go by without a smile.

I will be visiting people who love me as usual, and while I am away, I hope if you drop by you will find a message below just for you.

Violette:
Well, what can I say? You made it! Now you can be the real you. Wow I hope it is fun, and I hope you keep me up to date with whatever happens. I hope it starts with a great Christmas. Be a ;little bit slutty for me if you get the chance.

Rainbowsox:
I don't need to remind you girls to be happy at Christmas. Heaven knows what level of excitement there will be, albeit tinged with sadness at your family home this year. And your first Christmas as a married couple. Don't keep each other awake all night waiting for Santa will you!

Kay:
After surviving the fire, I hope it isn't too hard getting life back to normal. Run, Swim, Ride. Only without the run.

SexySixties:
(A name that always gives me hope!) I always look forward to hearing your comments. Happy Holidays.

Zandi, Hippiechick, Synndarella, Amakamaria, ColoradoRose, MostWantonWench, Skierchick:
I know you don't log in that often anymore, but if you are reading this, leave me a hello. Please. (Pretty please as Zandi always says!)

Oldhabits:
I haven't heard much from you lately, but often that can mean good news. I hope so, and I hope the New Year brings you a guy who treats you the way you deserve to be 't treated, and makes your heart thump when you think of him.

Marysia:
Barbecue on the beach? Have a good time, love to Roy and your sister.

StormyRoses:
I always think of you whenever I write anything here. I like to think of your cheeky knowing smile and your legs stretching out away from the camera.

Wildfire:
It's been a while, and we owe each other mail. How has this year been? Long time no blog......

BiggLala:
Anything you write always gives me something to think about, and I hope I will be commenting on your blog again this year.

Lustasaurus:
It was great to see you back after a while away. I don't know if you saw my long comment a few weeks ago, but I hope the process of being more you turns out well, even if it comes from a painful start.

Merry Christmas everyone, and if I forgot to mention your name above, leave me a comment and make me feel guilty!

Marsha! I nearly forgot Marsha!
Hi Marsha, if you happen to have stopped by. That's a rare event though, so not very likely. But if so, Merry Christmas, and come back with another exciting instalment of life on the ranch soon please!
Love, Dreamer.

Life back to normal? Not sure what that is these days. But I am adjusting to the new job and trying to get back to training.

I wish you a wonderful holiday and new year. Love and hugs from sunny California.

Thanks for the mention as you always do.

Sister not doing too good, waiting for more results. She is always surprised when she gets a mention after being away from blogland for so long.

The kids and I celebrated Christmas last Monday, due to both my son and I working Christmas/Boxing days. It was a special time, as it's not often I see both kids at the same time.

Have a very Happy and safe Christmas. x

Hiya,

Well it is good to have a special family day even if you can't get the time off on the 25th. Last Monday was a nice early one though!

I always remember your sister, in fact the picture on your Christmas card is just how I always imagined her.

Hi Lala. I haven't dared read the last couple of posts from you as I have been a bit short of time, lol. When I do, I have no doubt it will be as thought provoking as usual!

Are you saying that's not what she's like?

I skipped over the "she's not doing so good" part before. I am sorry to hear that. Do wish her well from me.

Some fool somewhere, sometime said, and I am paraphrasing,
"life is all about timing"... wait, is that an actual quote? Did I "dream" it?
Is it just too common an expression to warrant crediting one individual?

Can you say tangent? I can.... Tangent!!!!!

Soooooo, I was just fiddling around on ye ole laptop when I said to myself,
"Wendy, you should log onto Arf Arf" (I call myself Wendy in my head,
because it is easy to pronounce). Lo and behold, an old friend made a mention of little ole us. Well, "us" is not here today, as the better half of "us" still has to work this week.... sooo, you are stuck with just me! Lucky you as it should be rather apparent that time away has left me with pent up wordiness. As if that was never a problem previously!

Gosh, I lost my train of thought. I shall put on The Polar Express and re-watch the Cocoa scene, and maybe, just maybe, the train of thought will return.

Leaving when in the middle of typing is sort of like a journey in a time machine, at least as far as the reader is concerned. To you, no time has elapsed, whereas on my end, many seconds, minutes, or even longer may have transpired. But that is a far to existential question to ponder today!!!

Anyway, perhaps it is best I quit this silliness and just get back to the issue at hand.... HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!!!! (how British of me.... too much Hugh Grant as of late!).

We are nearer a full circle of "firsts", well at least sad firsts. This one is especially tough as we are so torn by it being OUR first Christmas as one, and our first Christmas without a special one. Truly a mental mind "hump" if ever there were one. We have done our best to infuse the idea of "Dad would want us happy" into everything we do, but we cannot just help that he is not hear to tease us about Santa placing us on the naughty list.

OK, enough with thoughts such as that. Instead, we shall focus on the celebration of life!!! Out life has been hectic, like the longest drop of a roller coaster known to man. The good news, we are near the bottom and there is a gentle curve just ahead... the gentle curve is a ruse, as we know just beyond is some cray loop-dee-loops to induce tummy twirls!!

Going home for the Holidays, a short trip, but we could NOT miss being with family, no matter how desperately we need calm. Although, we cannot wait for Christmas morning. With my Brother and his family the residents of the old home, that means little ones waking up to the magic of Santa!!! We could definitely use a dose of that magic... however, we do fear the impending thoughts of children one day roaming our own home; but we shall table those thoughts for now... one day though, one day!!!!

OK, I have rambled for far too long (this was to be a quick in and out visit to la-la land... see what you did?!

Now, we wish you so much joy this Christmas, and we especially want to wish you a safe, healthy and prosperous 2018... may every dream you have come true (the good ones that is) and may you smile and laugh everyday of the year! We love you, we miss you, and we think of you often!

    Love,
    The C's

"all about timing..........." ? No, I think your instincts are correct, it is too obvious to be attributed to any one person.

TANGENT.

But so good to hear from you. I figured this Christmas might be joyful tinged with sadness for you. But I hope you had a lovely time, and felt the magic anyway. I don't think anyone should ever let themselves grow beyond the magic of Christmas. I don't plan to, and actually here in Bloghampton we agreed this year turned out to be one of the best.

My favorite Christmas Post!!!

Thank you, Dreamer! For always being there, for reading through my tangled thoughts and somehow picking out the main essence of it! i don't know how you do it, but keep doing it! It's always a thrill to get a response from you.

you're one of three or four friends that i still have this account open! i hope you had a really wonderful Christmas, and that 2018 will bring about the realization of some of the dreams you dream.

one day, i hope we will be able to meet and i can give you a hug in person!

V, you are very sweet. Ditto: what you said back at you!

I did have a dream actually, and you were giving me more than a hug.

That made me blush, and i shouldn't have read it just before i ran off to work! lol

So, are you going to share this dream with me? Seeing that i was in it, i have rights to it as well! Plus I'm dying of curiousity... were we doing a remake of The Holiday, in our own way?!

If we do, no Jack Black! He ruins everything! i still can't figure out why on earth they would stick him in there?! his very presence is crass!

Ha ha! You really don't like him in that film do you?! Nor me, he is really awful in it. Although I prefer him in The Holiday to pretty much anything else I've seen him in!

Anyway, no, we weren't in The Holiday, and to be truthful I can't remember it that clearly, the details have mostly faded. There was hugging, but there were also lips and limited clothing involved........

It makes me feel warm to know that I am still remembered and thought of from time to time. I hope that your Christmas was joyful, and that 2018 brings you peace and hope and all the good things you deserve.
