I'm S.O.L

Guess I'm just S.O.L. I am a smoker with no plans of quitting anytime soon. From what I've seen on most of the profiles, there aren't many smokers or they say, "Light social smoker".
I've watch several of my own family who have quit smoking and within 3 or 4 years after quitting, either die or end up on oxygen 24/7 but I've also seen some who continued to smoke and live to be in their 80's and 90's. So from my perspective, I guess it all depends on your body chemistry and how certain things effect different people.
For the record, I am a "polite smoker", meaning, If I am in YOUR home or vehicle, I won't smoke. I'll either wait till we stop somewhere or I'll go outside. I have been known to use one of those disposable e-cigs which are preloaded and can not have anything added to them. I do have a vape but I use it very little if at all.
I am 61 years old. I've known about the consequences of smocking for years. Seen it first hand, but as I tell folks,, I've got only 3 vices left, coffee, cigarettes and sex and I ain't about give them up without a fight.
So,,, like I said at the start,,,, Guess I am just,, S.O.L.

Why Am I Here?

That's the question I keep asking myself. "Why am I here?"
When I first joined this site, I was going through a rough time. I felt I needed to have some contact with the outside world. I wasn't looking for anything other than conversation with other people, and for the most part, that's still all I'm looking for. That's not to say that I wouldn't mind actually meeting some or even a group of people, but I have to be realistic. There are aspects of my life, which I won't get into at the moment, that prevent me from establishing anything other than an online connection.
It's frustrating and somewhat depressing, and even though I've accepted my lot in life, that doesn't mean that I don't want something better and I refuse to believe that things can't or won't get better.
I'm flawed,, I know this, I have my limitations like every else,, I've never claimed to be perfect,, but I AM ALIVE,, I have wants, needs, and feelings like any else and by the same token, I'm not looking for perfection,, that's an illusion, a "pipe dream".
I've made mistakes in the past and chances are I'll make a few more before I leave this world...…….
Sorry,,, got off topic,, Since joining this site, I have made a few Friends,, haven't met any of them but n the less I still consider them as Friends. I have been invited to a couple of "Meet & Greets" as they call them, and I would have loved to have been able to attend, but "reality" steps in and I have had to decline.
At this point in time, I'd be satisfied to set across a dinner table looking at a Friendly face and enjoying a nice conversation, and if the evening stops there, that's fine, at least it would be a break from the "norm".
Perhaps in a future blog, I may tell the full story, or,, if by some chance, some wants to know more about me, I'll tell them, and after that,, as always,, the choice to continue will be up to them, if not, then so be it,, there won't be any hard feelings, least wise not on my end.
Leave a comment if you like, if not that's cool too and just for info purposes,,, you can generally catch me in the Texas Chatroom, drop by and say Hello.
The Fool And The Rose

As with my last post, this was written about someone I cared for. It's a Love story and no, it doesn't end well. It is rather long so not sure I can do it all in one post,,, we'll see.
The Fool and The Rose

A Rose once bloomed in a field of Hopes and Dreams. It's beauty was there for all to see. Within the Rose there lay hidden, a beauty that could only be seen through the eyes of Love. The Rose had but only one wish,, to be Loved and cared for,, to share her Love with but only one.
The Fool,, content to travel in solitude, finding solace where ever he could, only to leave it in pursuit of unknown happiness.
The Fool had seen the Rose and stopped, thinking only to admire her from afar. He watched her as she as she bent and swayed with the winds of Destiny. Her beauty never faded. The Fool could not help but to admire the strength of such a gentle flower. Without realizing, the Fool had come to Love the Rose for it's beauty and strength.
The Rose had seen the Fool as he walked down the road of Life that ran past the field. She had seen in him that which he kept hidden from the world... A heat that longed for Love and a gentle soul which few had ever seen.
The Fool watched the Rose as her colors changed to match her emotions. Bright Red when she was happy. Pale pink when she was sad. True Blue when she seen a Friend.
The Fool entered the gate to the field, treading gently so as not to step on the Hopes and Dreams that surrounded him. He found the path that lead to the Rose. It had not been traveled in a long time as was evident by the shattered and broken dreams and the hopes that had been torn into.
He walked gently up to the Rose and marveled at her beauty and gentle strength that shown all around her.
For a time they were happy, the Fool and the Rose. They laughed, cried, and Loved. They confided in each other things that no other had known.
Their Love for each other was strong and the Rose finally showed the Fool her inner beauty. The color of True Love,, It was the purest white that he had ever seen, and at the center was the most vibrant Red, the Heart of the Rose, perfect, untouched and as beautiful as the Rose.
But alas,, the seeds of discontent were too deeply imbedded in the feet of the Fool. Each day he became more distant and quit. He began looking towards the next field just over the horizon,, wondering what might be over the next hill.
This saddened the Rose. She tried to get the Fool to stay with her, to Love her as she had Loved him,, but to no avail. She tried to be strong but this time proved to be too much, the pain too deep, it had struck the very heart of the Rose.
The Fool,, realizing what he had done, slowly walked away, his heart filled with sorrow and regret for the pain he had caused. He looked back at the Rose, her once vibrant color now faded, her petals fell like tears. Hope had been torn into, dreams had been shattered and Love had been cast aside.
The Rose had given the Fool that which no one else had ever had and he left it by the wayside.
The Fool stood at the gate,, looking back at the Rose,, watching, hoping that someone would come and hold her, make her smile once more. He wanted to return but was afraid to,, Doubt stood beside him. The Fool knew that he had destroyed the one thing that could never be replaced,, Trust,, for without Trust, Love has no meaning.
Love,, which was once a burning flame was now a dieing ember. The Rose's Love for the Fool still burned but not as brightly.
As the Fool slowly walked away, he looked back, hoping to hear her voice, to here her call his name one more time. As the Fool walked on, tears filled his eyes,, tears shed for the pain he had caused.
The Fool walked on, the memory of a Love so true, still burning within him. He looked back one more time, tears of sorrow running down his cheek, his heart heavy. He waits, hoping, listening, watching.

End.,, And just in case you haven't guessed by now,,, I was the Fool.
If But Only Once...

The story behind this poem... It was written for a Lady that I loved very dearly. We met on the internet and over the course of a year, we fell in love. We finally met in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We spent the weekend together. That was the one and only time we ever saw each other. She still lives in SC but has since then gotten married and is very happy. We're still Friends and send little messages to each other from time to time. This poem is a tribute to that one special moment in time. Hope you enjoy.

If but only once,
I could hold you in my arms
Kiss your sweet lips,
Then my life would be full.
If but only once.
I could hold you hand If but only for a moment,
That moment would last forever.
If but only once,
I could see your face,
Look into your eyes,
My soul would fly in an endless sea,
And the light that shown there would guide me to the beauty of you.
If but only once
I could hear your voice,
No song would ever sound as sweet.
For in a place that was once dark,
A light now shines.
A place once dead,
Life now reigns.
A place once void of sound,
A song now echoes.
Chatroom Manners and Ediquit

Since 1998 or '99 until now, I have frequented many chatrooms on different sites. Some were age oriented, some were subject or topically oriented and yes, some were even sexually oriented,( ie: sexual preferences, orientation and gender related).
I've chatted with people from across the globe. Different cultures and all walks of life. I was lucky enough to have actually met some of the people I chatted with.
Over the many years that I've been online, there has been one commonality that has linked all the chatrooms,, that is the lack of common courtesy and respect, especially towards the Women.
For some reason, one that still eludes me, a lot of men, not all but a lot, think that women online are looking for sex and that they're just going to immediately jump on the first penis that comes in. Now that's not to say that there aren't, but the majority of women online are looking for more than just a romp in the hay.
When you enter a chatroom, even on a site such as this, don't let your opening statement be, " Hey Lady's, wanna....." or "Hey, (insert name), wanna cam and see my,,,", just a couple of examples, I can assure you, you're not going to achieve the desired results you were hoping for. Chance are that you'll be put on "ignore" or told NO,, Seen it happen too many times.
Instead, come in, exchange pleasantries such as "Hello Folks" or "Hi Y'all". Take time to look around the room at the people in there. Watch the conversation(s), join in when it's appropriate, and even IF the conversations do get sexual in nature, show some manners and while your at it, take the time to actually READ profiles, trust me, it'll save you a lot of wasted time and effort and it'll defiantly cut down on frustration.
Instead of trying to impress a Lady with the size of you penis, try impressing them with the size of your mind. Intelligence and a sense of humor go a long with most of the women I know.
While I'm on that subject matter, it might surprise you to know that a lot of women DON"T truly care about the size as long as you know what your doing sexually. Some women are actually scared of anything over 8 inches, after all, the vagina can only accommodate so much before it becomes painful. Now,, there ARE women out there who like men with 9,10 and even 12 inches but for most,6,7, and 8 inch are just as pleasurable if not more so.
Back when I was single,(course I'm a widower now), I dated 19 different women in a 2 year period. Sure, it took anywhere from a month to 3 months of chatting before I asked them out but it was worth the time. I had sex, on the 1st date with all but 5 and some were even repeats. it was made clear, from the start, that I was only wanting company to share a meal with, to have coffee with or to just simply take a nice little stroll through the park, after that, IF and I stress IF, anything else happened, it was THEIR CHOICE. After all, it was their body and they have the right to decide who they wanted or didn't want to have sex with.
I'm no expert on women, not sure that anyone is really, I just know what has worked for ME in the past. Respect, Dignity, and yes,, Honesty, not only with the person you're chatting with but also with yourself. Teat other as you would like to be treated and I can almost guarantee that you'll have more success.
Remember, behind EVERY name,, there is a REAL person with wants, needs, desires, but above all,, REAL feelings,, just like you.

As I mentioned in my profile, I'm an amateur writer. This is a poem I wrote back in 2001. It doesn't rhyme like most poetry, but I hope you enjoy it.

I've tasted Love's sweet nectar,
I hunger for more.
I've felt Love's warm embrace
I long to feel it again.
I've heard Love's tender song,
My soul listens to hear it again.
I've seen Love's beauty,
And my eyes can find naught to compare.
Love is a gentle flower to be nurtured.
It's beauty never fades.
It is as abundant as the stars,
Yet ever so rare.
It is stronger than diamonds,
Yet as soft as the petals of a rose.

I have a few more. If you like this one, please leave a comment, I welcome the feedback.
