The Biggest Critic

People with know, your will be your biggest critic.

They notice every flaw. They will verbalize their disgust at seeing you with an eye booger in the corner of your eye. They gasp in horror when you come home from work and they don't like what you wore.

Because, of course, they are the epitome of what's current.

I took the Spawn to the lake last night to cool off and relax. It was a field day for my biggest critic.

"Why are you wearing green eye shadow??" She was leaned forward, lips pursed in disgust.

"Why not? Looks good with my blue eyes." Actually, I wore a green shirt to work today and it looked nice with the eye shadow.

"It makes you look forty. " She was now openly scoffing, turning her face in a dramatic gesture of disapproval.

"That's great! Now I don't feel forty 6" I was being a smart ass, her expression was priceless and I started laugh.

"Just because you ARE in your forties doesn't mean you need look it!"

What a little shit!

TGIF

I do my fair share of embarrassing her as well... LOL

Well... If green makes you look forty - see if you can stick with it.
Nothing wrong with looking forty - when you're sixty.
LOL I told something very similar to that! I said I was going to have to remember that when I turn 60.

    Sia - "Buttons"

You got me pushing imaginary buttons
Step away from me lover, away from me lover
You got me counting imaginary school children
Get away from me lover, away from me lover
Yes, I can see that your carpet is animated
Walk away from me lover, away from me lover
Yes, I see open wounds in everyone I've dated
Away from me lover, get away from me lover
I am no good for you
I'm seeing ghosts in everything I do
I am no good for you
I'm seeing ghosts in everything I do
She is definitely a button pusher, and she knows it. Her new favorite phrase is... "I'm just trying to make you mad." So my new favorite phrase is, "It's working!"

She's cheeky all right... The little stinker. I wouldn't have her any other way, though.

It's probably too late to trade her in for a different model. lol
You know that even in 10, 15 or even 20 years she's still going to be giving you attitude and shit....right? Cause she's your kid and she can. lol But at the end of the day, she loves you, so it's good.
We went to the beach again tonight. When my fingers started getting pruny, I told her I was headed up to shore.... And she got bummed. She wanted me to stay in the water longer because I was fun. She has a few redeeming qualities. LOL

Yes, the 5" inseam. They are short. She's lucky I'm not wearing my jean cutoffs. They have about a 2" inseam.
OMG... Ha Ha Ha Ha..... She would die of embarrassment. We were at the beach again tonight and she was critiquing a guy with shorter swim trunks on. It's the age. LOL

They were colors I don't normally wear. I usually stick to blues and greys for my eyes because of my eye color.... She's been watching a crap ton of youtube tutorials about make up application and the Nude palette. She's got the most beautiful brown eyes and those colors look great on her, she doesn't understand the differences in skin tone and eye color and how colors on her may make me look washed out.

Thank you for the kind compliment... I'd like to think I look pretty good for 46. Funny story... I usually get more compliments on my smile than I do on my eyes. Now that it's hidden behind a mask, all you can see is my eyes.

It's because children of a certain age are immature, narcissistic, KIAs.

It's part of the human experience. I concluded long ago that as parents, we just need to ignore their 'tudes and try to empart the value of empathy, sympathy, and a few well-timed "because I'm the mother and I said so!" platitudes in their direction.

With any luck, they eventually grow out of their own self-centeredness and engage their filters.
She's a stinker, but she loves her Momma. She was super concerned last night because I didn't bring the sunscreen. She was worried I was going to get a burn... And kept telling me to get in the shade.
