The Agony Aunt Thread

Well, we all know each other now and as everyone in here is so friendly I thought it was high time for us to help one another; As the old saying goes, ‘A problem aired is a problem shared’ or a sentiment to that effect at least.

Simply post your problem here and the person below must then offer some advice for said issue.
Once said agony aunt/uncle has done so, they in turn must air a problem of their own for the next person to solve

To get the old ball a rolling as it were, I shall begin:

Earlier today I noticed that one of my electrical wall sockets had some exposed wiring.
Taking a screwdriver, I inserted it into the socket in order to try to solve the problem.

…..A few hours later, upon regaining consciousness, I decided that perhaps it would be better to leave it in the hands of someone more qualified and subsequently phoned up the gas board to send out an engineer.
I was somewhat surprised when they put the phone down on me after I relayed my concerns.
Undeterred however, I resolved to contact my internet service provider to sort the problem out. Strangely enough, they to were somewhat less than helpful in the matter…

What should I do?

Well Kitten, I’m not familiar with the Tony Ferguson diet but for your packed lunch how about trying the Edwardian diet…..cucumber sandwiches with the crusts removed and tea served in thimble sized china cups (remember though, it is considered very poor etiquette to rattle the spoon against the inside of the cup whilst stirring)

Chris ‒ this is indeed a tricky maritime dilemma you pose; I myself experienced something very similar when I tried to cross the English channel in an un-inflated dingy.
Fear not though, for I learnt from my slight oversight of failing to remember to pump up my vessel beforehand and can now offer some sapient advice; Try plugging the hole in your boat with an Edwardian style cucumber sandwich (wafer thin and with crusts removed). Said plug will expand when immersed in water and should efficaciously stem the flow.
Incidentally, I would also recommend to don a life jacket and a flare gun just to be on the safe side though

Chris - Remember the only thing less likely than your body shutting down through hypothermia is the coastguard hearing your whistle....
